What is happening?
Highways
Kent County Council, acting in exercise of its powers under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, makes or intends to make the following Orders.
CANTERBURY AREA
BRAMLING ROAD, BRAMLING, CT3 1NN (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JUNE 2024
To allow replacement works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Bramling Road, Bramling, on or after 3rd June 2024, for up to 10 days, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in the vicinity of Apple Tree Cottage, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route is via Bramling Road, Adisham Road, Chalkpit Hill, School Lane, Station Road, Bekesbourne Lane, A257 High Street, Wingham Road, Canterbury Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
CASTLE ROW, CANTERBURY - CANTERBURY PRIDE 2024. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING & WAITING) TEMPORARY ORDER JUNE 2024
To allow the Canterbury Pride Event to be held, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting vehicle waiting and through traffic on part of Castle Row, Canterbury, from 17.00 hours on 5th June 2024, with estimated completion by 20.00 hours on 10th June 2024, or until the event has finished.
The road will be closed from number 9, to the junction with Dane John Mews, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
Waiting will be prohibited in all parking bays in Castle Row from outside Age Concern up to the junction with Gas Passage, but does not apply to vehicles involved in the running of the event.
The alternative routes for any through traffic are:
Southbound via Castle Row, Castle Street and A28 Pin Hill.
Northbound via A28 Pin Hill, Rhodaus Town, Riding Gate Roundabout and Castle Street.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
CAVENDISH ROAD, HERNE BAY, CT6 5HA (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JUNE 2024
To allow replacement pole works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Cavendish Road, Herne Bay, on or after 5th June 2024, with estimated completion by 6th June 2024, between the hours of 09.00 and 16.00, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in the vicinity of number 14, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route is via Cavendish Road, Victoria Park, B2205 Canterbury Road, High Street and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
CRANLEIGH GARDENS, WHITSTABLE, CT5 1QG (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JUNE 2024
To allow maintenance works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Cranleigh Gardens, Whitstable, on or after 6th June 2024, with estimated completion by 19th June 2024, between the hours of 09.30 and 15.30, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in the vicinity of number 13, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
There is no alternative route for this closure, however, residential and emergency access will be maintained at all times when it is safe to do so.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
MARLEY LANE, KINGSTON, CT4 6JJ (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER MAY 2024
To allow tree felling works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Marley Lane, Kingston, on or after 21st May 2024, for up to 4 days, between the hours of 09.30 and 15.30, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in the vicinity of Marley Lodge, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route is via Turks Hill, Westwood Road, Marley Lane and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
MERCERY LANE, CANTERBURY, CT1 2HP (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER MAY 2024
To allow duct works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Mercery Lane, Canterbury, on or after 20th May 2024, for up to 5 days, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed from the junction with Sun Street, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
There is no alternative route for this closure, however, residential and emergency access will be maintained at all times when it is safe to do so.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
RADFALL ROAD, CHESTFIELD, CT5 3EP (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JUNE 2024
To allow utility works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Radfall Road, Chestfield, on or after 9th June 2024, for up to one day, between the hours of 08.30 and 18.00, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed from the junction with Broomfield Gate to the junction with Clowns Wood, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route is via Radfall Road, Radfall Hill, Chestfield Road, A2990 Thanet Way, Greenhill Road, Thornden Wood Road, Hackington Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
SAXON SHORE HALF MARATHON (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JUNE 2024
To allow the Saxon Shore Half Marathon event to be held, Kent County Council intends to make an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on Beach Walk and Tower Hill, Whitstable on 9th June 2024, for up to 1 day, between the hours of 09.20 and 14.00.
Beach Walk will be closed for its entire length, between 09.30 hours and approximately 14.00 hours, and re-opened as soon as it is safe to do so.
Tower Hill will be closed for its entire length, between 09.20 hours and approximately 11.00 hours, and re-opened as soon as it is safe to do so.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Tankerton Road.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the event.
ST LAWRENCE ROAD, CANTERBURY, CT1 3EP (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER MAY 2024
To allow replacement works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of St Lawrence Road, Canterbury, on or after 24th May 2024, for up to 1 day, between the hours of 09.00 and 17.00, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in its entirety, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic:-
Diversion A is via B2068 Old Dover Road and A2050 New Dover Road.
Diversion B is via B2068 Old Dover Road, A28 Upper Bridge Street, St George’s Roundabout, A2050 St George’s Place and New Dover Road.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
ST STEPHENS ROAD, CANTERBURY, CT2 7JN (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING & SUSPENSION OF ENVIRONMENTAL WEIGHT LIMIT) TEMPORARY ORDER MAY 2024
To allow rail inspection works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of St Stephens Road, Canterbury, from 23.30 hours on 20th May 2024, with estimated completion by 05.00 hours on 21st May 2024, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in the vicinity of the level crossing, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The environmental weight limit on Station Road West, Forty Acres Road & Beaconsfield Road will be suspended for the duration of the works.
The alternative route is via St Stephens Road, St Stephen’s Hill, Beaconsfield Road, Forty Acres Road, A290 Whitstable Road, St Dunstans Street, B2248 Station Road West, St Stephen’s Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
