A66 Trunk Road, Temporary Prohibitions & Restrictions Due To Resurfacing Works

The A66 Trunk Road (Yarm Road Interchange To Acklam Road Interchange) (Temporary Restriction And Prohibition Of Traffic)
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that National Highways Limited has made an Order on the A66 Trunk Road, in Stockton-On-Tees, to enable carriageway resurfacing works to be carried out in safety.
The works are expected to start at 8pm on Sunday 12 May 2024 for 2 months, or until completed.
The effect of the Order will be, for 24 hours a day, at times during the works, to:
(i) impose a temporary 40mph speed restriction on the A66 eastbound and westbound carriageways from Yarm Back Lane overbridge to Teesside Park Drive overbridge, a distance of 5970 metres; and
(ii) close the laybys adjacent to the A66 westbound carriageway from Teesside Park Drive overbridge to the exit slip road at Yarm Road Interchange, a distance of 4000 metres.
It will be necessary to close, from Monday 13 May 2024, between 8pm and 6am, the A66:
(iii) eastbound carriageway from the exit slip road at the A1027 Yarm Road Interchange to the entry slip road at Acklam Road Interchange, a distance of 3330 metres;
(iv) westbound carriageway from the exit slip road at the A1130 Thornaby Road Interchange to the entry slip road at the A1027 Yarm Road Interchange, a distance of 3350 metres;
(v) eastbound entry at Yarm Road Interchange;
(vi) eastbound and westbound entry and exit slip roads at Boathouse Lane Interchange; and
(vii) eastbound exit and westbound entry slip roads at Thornaby Road Interchange;
During the closures suitably signed alternative routes will be available at all times. Traffic signs will be in force 24 hours a day and will indicate the extent of the restrictions (which will not apply to emergency service vehicles or special forces vehicles) and prohibitions (which will not apply to emergency service vehicles or vehicles being used in connection with the said works or for winter maintenance or traffic officer purposes).
