A34 TRUNK ROAD – BULLINGTON CROSS TO WASH COMMON
TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS
Notice is hereby given that National Highways Limited has made an Order on the A34 Trunk Road in the County of Hampshire, under Section 14(1)(a) of the
Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 because works are proposed to be executed on the road by contractors working on behalf of National Grid. The effect of the Order is to authorise:-

1) the overnight closure of both carriageways of the A34 between Bullington Cross (A30/A303) and Andover Road (Wash Common) Interchange (A343), and all of the slip and link roads leading to and from those carriageways.

2) the 24-hour closure of all of the lay-bys adjacent to the carriageways described in 1. above.

These measures are in the interests of road safety while contractors install and remove scaffolding and netting to protect the road while undertaking overhead high-voltage cable conductor replacements on power lines north of Litchfield. It is expected that the work will occur on two separate occasions, on Sunday 19th May and Saturday 31st August 2024, with contingency planning for Sunday 8th September 2024, between 23:00 and 04:00 hours (maximum period). Please consult National Highways website for details of all closures. The Order will come into force on 10th May 2024 and have a maximum duration of eighteen months, ceasing when the works are complete.

Through traffic affected by the closures will be diverted strategically using the A303, A3093, and A343 in either direction. Local traffic will be permitted either side of, but not through, the works, and will be diverted in the appropriate direction to join the main diversions. The temporary closures and diversion routes will be clearly indicated by traffic signs when they are in
operation during the works period.
