What is happening?
Temporary Closure of Lower Road, Stalbridge
DORSET COUNCIL has made an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. All vehicles will be prohibited from proceeding along Lower Road, Stalbridge between Glovers Road to a point approximately 280 metres to the east (in both directions). The order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations, which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users. It will come into operation on 20 May 2024 and will remain in force for 18 months, however it is anticipated that the works will be completed by 28 June 2024.
This Order will enable Blaze Construction Ltd to Install new storm water sewers from site to headwall in river.
An alternative vehicular route will be signed using Lower Road, A357, C15 and vice versa.

Temporary Closure of Public Footpath N50/10 & N35/37, Shillingstone
DORSET COUNCIL has made an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. All pedestrians will be prohibited from proceeding along N50/10 & N35/37, Shillingstone at BS1817 Shillingstone Footbridge. The Order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations, which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users. It will come into operation on 13 May 2024 for a period of 26 weeks, but it may be extended with the approval of the Secretary of State for Transport, if necessary. However it is anticipated that the works will be completed by 17 June 2024.
This closure is required to allow Dorset Highways Structures Team to reinstate banks on the eastern side of the bridge as well as to replace some deck boards and holding down bolts.

Temporary Closure of Public Footpath N64/78, Gillingham
DORSET COUNCIL intend, not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffi c Regulations Act 1984, as amended. All pedestrians, horse riders and cyclists will be prohibited from proceeding along Footpath N64/78, Gillingham from grid reference ST819252 to grid reference ST817253, a distance of approximately 130 metres.
The Order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations, which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users.
It will come into operation on 17 May 2024 for a period of 26 weeks, but it may be extended with the approval of the Secretary of State for Transport, if necessary.
This closure is required to allow Redrow Homes to carry out housing development construction works.

Temporary Traffic Management Order of Various Roads, Gillingham
DORSET COUNCIL intend, not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. The Order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users. It will come into operation on 17 May 2024 and will remain in force for 18 months and can be extended with the approval of the Secretary of State for Transport if necessary; however, it is anticipated that the works will be completed between 9 July 2024 - 22 July 2024.
This Order will enable Dorset Council to carry out carriageway surfacing works.
The effect of this Order is as follows:
[i] To impose a temporary road closure on: Cole Street Lane and Common Mead Lane as indicated by signs on site.
[ii] To impose a clearway and parking suspension as indicated by signs on site to prevent waiting or parking on the highway along Cole Street Lane and Common Mead Lane.
Any vehicle waiting in contravention of any restriction imposed by this Notice may be removed under the provisions of the Removal and Disposal of Vehicles Regulations 1986. Please note that the dates are a window of opportunity and the road may not be closed for the whole duration stated above and the works are weather dependant.
