THE BARNET (CHARGED-FOR PARKING PLACES) (AMENDMENT NO.159) ORDER 2024
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the London Borough of Barnet have on 9th May 2024 made the above-mentioned Orders under Sections 6, 45, 46, 49, 51 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and all other enabling powers.
As part of an in-process and completed public highway adoptions in the borough and development works it is considered that certain lengths of public highway should be kept clear of parked vehicles to ensure motorists and pedestrian safety, prevent obstructive parking, and allow adequate traffic flow as such the general effect of the Free Order would be to formalise the lengths of waiting restriction on street as follows:
At any time waiting restrictions will be introduced at the junction of:
(a) Needleman Close and Charcot Road, Salk Close and Charcot Road, Joslin Avenue and Charcot Road and Tanner Close with Charcot Road.
(b) lengths of 'at any time' waiting restrictions on both side of Charcot Road between and Noble Close and Colindale Avenue NW9.
The general effect of the Charged-for Order will be to provide short-term Paybyphone payment parking places on Charcot Road NW9 in order to provide a parking facility to motorists wishing to visit local shops and amenities. Due to the type of shops and amenities in the area, it is considered to be beneficial to ensure that the area will remain amenable to visiting motorists, and therefore the following charges will apply between 8am and 6.30pm, Mondays to Sundays (Maximum stay 2 hours). Up to 30 mins - £1.41 Up to 1 hour - £2.82 Up to 2 hours - £5.64
The tariffs above were subject to change in line with the council's fee and charges as such may be different to those originally introduced. In order to improve access for disabled motorists who display a valid blue badge in their vehicles visiting the local business in the Charcot Road area, the general effect of the above Free Order will be to introduce 2 disabled parking bays outside No.1 Charcot Road NW9. Motorists will be limited to a maximum stay of 2 hours, with no return within 1 hour. Copies of the Orders, which will come into operation on Friday 10th May 2024 and the Council's Statement of Reasons for making the Orders can be obtained, for a period of 6 weeks from the date on which this notice is published, by emailing parking.consultations@barnet.gov.uk or by writing to the Design Team, Highways Section, 3rd Floor, 2 Bristol Avenue, Colindale, London NW9 4EW.
Any person wishing to question the validity of the Orders or any of their provisions on the grounds that they are not within the relevant powers of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 or that any of the relevant requirements thereof or any regulations made there under have not been complied with in relation to the Orders may, within six weeks of the date on which the Order was made, make application for the purpose to the High Court.
