A46 Trunk Road - Prohibition Of Traffic For Maintenance & resurfacing Works

What is happening?

THE A46 TRUNK ROAD (BETWEEN KIRBY MUXLOE AND SYSTON, LEICESTERSHIRE)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC IN LAYBYS) ORDER 2024

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that National Highways Limited (Company no. 9346363) intends to make an order on the A46 Trunk Road, between Kirby Muxloe and Syston, in the County of Leicestershire, to allow maintenance works to be carried out.

The effect of the Order will be to close any layby situated adjacent to –

(a) the northbound carriageway of the A46 from the centreline of the southern overbridge of Kirby Muxloe Interchange (A46/M1 J21a), to its junction with Cossington Interchange (A607/Syston Road/Charnwood Edge); and

(b) the southbound carriageway of the A46 from its junction with the A607 near Syston, to the centreline of the southern overbridge of Kirby Muxloe Interchange.

The laybys are expected to be closed weekdays between 13:00 hours and 06:00 hours starting on Monday 3 June 2024 for approximately 4 weeks. The Order will come into force on 27 May 2024.

Vehicles being used for police, fire and rescue authority or ambulance purposes and vehicles being used in connection with the works will be exempt from the layby closures.

THE A46 TRUNK ROAD (NEAR SEAGRAVE, LEICESTERSHIRE)
(TEMPORARY RESTRICTION AND PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2024

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that National Highways Limited (Company no. 9346363) intends to make an Order on the A46 Trunk Road, near Seagrave, in the County of Leicestershire, to enable resurfacing works to be carried out on adjoining side roads.

The effect of the Order will be to –

(1) impose a speed restriction of 50 miles per hour on the northbound carriageway of the A46 between points 609 metres southwest and 197 metres southwest of the centreline of its junction with Park Hill Lane, near Seagrave;

(2) impose a speed restriction of 40 miles per hour on the northbound carriageway of the A46 between points 197 metres southwest and 378 metres northeast of the centreline of its junction with Park Hill Lane, near Seagrave;

(3) close the gap in the central reservation of the A46 opposite its junction with Park Hill Lane, near Seagrave; and

(4) close the dedicated right turn lane leading from the southbound carriageway of the A46 to the gap in the central reservation described in (3) above.

The work will be carried out overnight between 20:00 hours and 06:00 hours and is expected to start on Monday 3 June 2024 and continue for three nights. The Order will come into force on 27 May 2024.

Vehicles being used for police, fire and rescue authority or ambulance purposes will be exempt from the speed restrictions and closures. Vehicles being used for special forces purposes will be exempt from the speed restrictions, and vehicles being used in connection with the works will be exempt from the closures.

Diversion routes via alternative junctions of the A46 will be signed.
