What is happening?

A39 Glastonbury Road, Wells in the Parish of Wells
(Temporary One-Way Restriction) Order 2024

Somerset Council in exercise of its powers under Section 14 (1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, intends to make an Order, the effect of which will be to introduce the following temporary traffic restriction as specified in the Schedule below.

This Order will come into operation on the 23rd day of May 2024 and will remain in force for eighteen months.

The Works are expected to commence on the 28th day of May 2024 until the 14th day of June 2024 to enable Wales and West Utilities safe access to carry out works to replace a metallic gas main with plastic.

The restrictions will only apply when indicated by traffic signs.

A39 Glastonbury Road, Wells – from a point 176 metres northeast from the junction with Wand Road in a northeasterly direction to the A39 Strawberry Way Roundabout

Statement of reasons for making the Order
a) because works are being or are proposed to be executed on or near the road; b) because of the likelihood of danger to the public, or of serious damage to the road, which is not attributable to such works.
