What is happening?
WAKEFIELD COUNCIL
ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 –SECTION 14
(WESTFIELD LANE, DARRINGTON)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER (NO 118) 2024
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the City of Wakefield has made an Order on traffic management grounds for safety reasons to reduce damage to the carriageway to be carried out as follows:-
ROAD TO BE CLOSED: Westfield Lane, Darrington. The Order shall also have the effect of closing any roads at their junctions the closed length of Westfield Lane.
ALTERNATIVE ROUTES: Carleton Road, Moor Lane, B6474 Old Great North Road & vice versa.
PERIOD OF CLOSURE: From and including 16th May 2024 to 31st August 2024, or until completion of the work, whichever is soonest
. Access to the premises on the closed length of road will be maintained whenever possible.
(BEXHILL CLOSE, PONTEFRACT)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER (NO 99) 2024
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the City of Wakefield intend to make an Order on traffic management grounds for gas mains replacement to be carried out as follows:-
ROAD TO BE CLOSED: Bexhill Close, Pontefract for approximately 51.68 metres, also from the junction of Cobblers Lane to outside number 56 Bexhill Close. The Order shall also have the effect of closing any roads at their junctions the closed length of Bexhill Close.
ALTERNATIVE ROUTES: Bexhill Close, Knottingley Road, Cobblers Lane.
PERIOD OF CLOSURE: From and including 27th May 2024 to 7th June 2024 and a separate closure on 3rd June 2024 to 14th June 2024, or until completion of the work, whichever is soonest.
Access to the premises on the closed length of road will be maintained whenever possible.
(CIVIL ENFORCEMENT AREA), (WAITING RESTRICTIONS AND ON-STREET PARKING PLACES) (CONSOLIDATION ORDER 2016) AMENDMENT NUMBER 5 ORDER 2024
MILL DAM LANE, NORTH BAILEYGATE, SOUTH BAILEYGATE, BONDGATE, PONTEFRACT
The Council of the City of Wakefield proposes to make the above Order under its powers in the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and the Traffic Management Act 2004, the effect of which, in relation to: Mill Dam Lane, North Baileygate, South Baileygate and Bondgate, Pontefract is to vary the Council of the City of Wakefield (Civil Enforcement Area) (Waiting Restrictions And On-Street Parking Places) (Consolidation Order 2016) by :
1. Introducing lengths Parking place for buses and No Waiting at Any Time on all or parts of the following roads:
MILL DAM LANE
NORTH BAILEYGATE
SOUTH BAILEYGATE
BONDGATE

It does include copies of plans showing the proposed changes to the road as well as a Statement of Reasons for proposing to make the Order. NORTH BAILEYGATE, PONTEFRACT (PART)
(TRAFFIC REGULATION) (NO 4) ORDER 2024
The Council of the City of Wakefield propose to make the above order under their powers in the Road Traffic Act 1984, the effect of which, in relation to North Baileygate, Pontefract (part) will be to introduce a one-way street system on part of North Baileygate. The scheme will rationalise traffic movements and improve efficiency and safety by the introduction of the following:
1. Removing the difficult right turn from North Baileygate junction onto the A645, which is near the retail park junction, by amending its current two-way section to a new one-way route between A645 to The Booths.
2. Introduce a short section of one-way road to accommodate the changes in section 1.
3. The introduction of new pedestrian facilities as part of the changes proposed in section 2 to provide safe crossing points on North Baileygate and across the A645.
4. A new mini roundabout at the junction with The Booths to manage amended flows in sections 1 and 2.
5. A new length of cycle lane for inbound cyclists along the proposed North Baileygate one-way route mentioned in section 1 and continuation of this lane beyond the new mini roundabout for 40 metres.
