Houghton Footpath 83 and Lumley Crescent Area, Houghton-Le-Spring - Temporary Traffic Regulation
What is happening?
THE CITY OF SUNDERLAND (CLOSURE OF SECTION OF HOUGHTON FOOTPATH 83 HOUGHTON-LE-SPRING) AND (CLOSURE OF CARRIAGEWAYS IN LUMLEY CRESCENT AREA, HOUGHTON-LE-SPRING) TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDERS 2024
Sunderland City Council gives notice that it intends to make two Orders under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit pedestrians along the footpath and all traffic along the carriageways in the Schedule. The Orders are required to enable electric installation works to take place on or near the footpath and carriageways. The Orders will come into operation on 1st July 2024. The maximum duration of the closure under the Orders will be 6 months for the footpath and 18 months for the carriageways, however it is estimated that the closures will only be in operation for approximately 9 weeks from commencement of the works. All pedestrians will be prohibited from the footpath (except personnel involved in the works) and all traffic will be prohibited from the carriageways (except vehicles and personnel involved in the works) until the works are completed or at such times and to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the display of traffic signs. Vehicular access for affected residents will be provided when essential or in an emergency and when the works are not in operation. Pedestrian access to affected properties will be maintained be throughout. Alternative routes will be provided via the adjacent highway network.
Schedule – Footpath and Carriageways to be closed (i)Houghton Footpath 83 from its junction with Lumley Crescent South Rear to the extended common party property boundary of no.10 and 11 Churston Close. (ii) Lumley Crescent South Rear, Houghton-le-Spring, from the extended common party property boundary of no.11 and 12 Lumley Crescent to its northern most junction with Philadelphia Lane. (iii)Electric Crescent, Houghton-le-Spring, from its junction with Philadelphia Lane for a distance of 20 metres in north-easterly direction.
