Temporary traffic regulation ORDER 2024

Sunderland City Council gives notice that on 30th April 2024 it made an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which is to temporarily prohibit all vehicular, horse, pedestrian and cycle traffic from the entire length of Laura Street West Back. The Order is required to allow the excavation and installation of electrical cables. The order comes into force on 13th May 2024.
The maximum duration of the closure under the Orders will be six months, it is estimated that the works will take 19 days. During the closures all vehicles, pedestrians, horses and cycles will be prohibited from the entire length of Laura Street West Back and from any footpath connecting to Laura Street West Back (except for vehicles and personnel involved in the works), until the works are completed or at such times and to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the display of traffic signs. The closure will be for the full extent of the road. An alternative route will be provided and pedestrian access to properties will be maintained throughout.
