What is happening?

BOROUGH OF ROCHDALE
LITTLEBOROUGH DEFINITVE FOOTPATHS LitFp223, LitFp225, LitFp226
TEMPORARY PUBLIC PATH CLOSURE ORDER 2024

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Rochdale Borough Council made an Order, the effect of which is to temporarily prohibit pedestrians from proceeding along:-

1. The footpath (LitFp223), which starts at the junction with the Rochdale Canal at Sladen Bridge and runs in a south westerly direction for 42 metres to meet with LitFp225 and LitFp226.

2. The footpath (LitFp225), which starts at Todmorden Road at Grid Ref: E394483 N417851 and runs in an south easterly direction for 150 metres to meet with footpaths LitFp226 and LitFp223.

3. The footpath (LitFp226), which starts at the junction with LitFp223 and LitFp225 and runs in a generally south easterly direction for 137 metres to meet with the Rochdale Canal towpath at Grid Ref: E394678 N417696.

The Order is required for drainage works and for an underground reservoir to be created.The closure is necessary to protect the public from danger posed by works.

The Order came into force 2nd May 2024.

The alternative route currently available for pedestrians is Todmorden Road at the junction with LitFp225 Grid Ref: E394483 N417851 and runs north along Todmorden Road until reaching LitBp219 at Punchbowl Bridge at Grid Ref E394640 N418173, the diversion then continues across Punchbowl Bridge the Rochdale Canal Towpath at Grid Ref: E394676 N418162, continuing in a southerly direction along the canal towpath to meet with LitFp226 at Grid Ref: E394678 N417696.
