What is happening?

NEATH PORT TALBOT COUNTY BOROUGH COUNCIL
CYNGOR BWRDEISTREF SIROL CASTELL-NEDD PORT TALBOT (VARIOUS ROADS IN NEATH PORT TALBOT COUNTY BOROUGH) (TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURES) ORDER 2024

NOTICE is hereby given that Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council has made an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended).

The effect of the Order will be to temporarily prohibit vehicles from driving on the roads set out in the Schedule below whilst the Order is in force. During such periods as are indicated by traffic signs informing the public that the roads are closed.

The Order is necessary to enable the Highway Authority to carry out resurfacing works and highway maintenance works in the roads.

The Order will come into force on the 10th May 2024 and shall continue in force for a maximum duration of 18 months or until the works are completed, whichever is the sooner. It is estimated that each of the closures will take 3 days to complete.

SCHEDULE

Dan Y Coed, Cwmavon will be closed in its entirety from the junction of Heol Jiwbili in a northerly direction for a distance of approximately 75m along its length. The alternative route will be via Heol Crwys, Waun Wen and Heol Jiwbili. Similarly this route will operate in a reverse direction’

Heol Crwys, Cwmavon will be closed in its entirety from the junction of Dan Y Coed in an easterly direction for a distance of approximately 650m along its length. The alternative route for vehicular traffic will be via Waun Wen and Heol Jiwbili. Similarly this route will operate in a reverse direction.

Morrison Crescent, Sandfields will be closed in its entirety. There is no alternative route for vehicular traffic.

Goytre Close, Goytre will be closed from the side of 26 East Street in an easterly direction for a distance of approximately 120m along its length. There is no suitable alternative route for vehicular traffic

Heol Camlas, Cwmavon will be closed in its entirety from the junction of Heol Mabon in an easterly direction for a distance of approximately 650m along its length. The alternative route for vehicular traffic will be via Heol Tewgoed and Heol Mabon. Similarly this route will operate in the reverse direction.

Heol Tewgoed, Cwmavon will be closed in its entirety from the junction of Heol Mabon in an easterly direction for a distance of approximately 325m along its length. The alternative route for vehicular traffic will Heol Mabon and Heol Camlas. Similarly this route will operate in the reverse direction.

Onllwyn Road, Onllwyn will be closed from the junction of Wembley Avenue in a northerly direction for a distance of approximately 200m along its length. The alternative route for vehicular traffic will be via the unaffected section of Onllwyn Road, A4221, Heol Gaer and Wembley Avenue. Similarly this route will operate in a reverse direction.

Plas Road, Rhos will be closed from outside 5 Plas Road in a northerly for a distance of approximately 650m along its length The alternative route for vehicular traffic will be via the unaffected section of Plas Road, A474 Neath Road, A474 New Road, and Cwm Nant-Llwyd Road. Similarly this route will operate in a reverse direction.

B4286 Depot Road, Cwmavon will be closed from the junction of Ty’r Owen Row in an easterly direction for a distance of approximately 330m along its length. The alternative route for vehicular traffic will be the remaining unaffected section of B4286 Depot Road, Salem Road, Maes-Y Bettws, Danybont, B4287 Queen Street, A4107 Afan Valley Road, Lletty Harri, Pen-Y-Cae Road, Tan-Y-Groes Street, Abbey Road, A48 Talbot Road, Heilbronn Way and B4286 Cwmavon Road. Similarly this route will operate in the reverse direction.

Brunel Way, Briton Ferry will be closed from the Roundabout at the junction of A48 in a southerly direction for a distance of approximately 800m along its length. The alternative route for vehicular traffic will be via the remaining unaffected area of Brunel Way, Central Avenue, Seaway Parade and the A48. Similarly this route will operate in the reverse direction.

B4434 New Road, Tonna will be closed from approximately 1.1km east from the junction of Heol Y Glo, Tonna in an easterly direction for a distance approximately 500m along its length.

The alternative route for vehicular traffic will be via the remaining unaffected area of B4434 New Road, Tonna Uchaf, B4434 Dulais Fach Road, A465, A465 Aberdulais Roundabout, A465, A465 Resolven Roundabout, Commercial Road, Tan Y Rhiw Road, Neath Road, Lletty Dafydd, Tonclwyda and New Road. Similarly this route will operate in the reverse direction.
