What is happening?

Cumberland Council (Various Roads In The District And City Of Carlisle) (Temporary Traffic Regulation) (No.4) Order 2024

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable highway works to be carried out ("the Works"), Cumberland Council has made an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along the lengths of road specified in the attached Schedule.

Suitable diversion routes will be indicated on site by the display of relevant traffic signs as and when the temporary closures are in force. Phased works will not necessarily be done in numerical order. A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times.

The Order will come into operation on 7 May 2024 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that each restriction will only be required for up to 10 days within the period from 7 May 2024 to 23 August 2024, and only as and when the relevant traffic signs are displayed.

SCHEDULE

EXTENT OF RESTRICTIONS AND ALTERNATIVE ROUTES

1. U1113 Monkhill (Ref: TTROC/l0505)

From its junction with the U1111 Beaumont to its junction with the C2042 Monkhill.

Alternative Route: via the U1111 and C2042.

2. AS95 Wigton Road, Carlisle (Ref: TTROC/10474)

From its junction with Glaramara Drive, extending in a south westerly direction for approx. 200m.

Alternative Route: via the unrestricted sections of the A59S Wigton Road, the A689, A7 Kingstown Road, Scotland Road, Eden Bridge, Hardwicke Circus and the A595 Castle Way, Bridge Street and Church Street

3. U1298 Cairnwood, Heads Nook (Ref: TTROC/10469)

From a point approx. 130m north east of its junction with the CI026, extending for the entire length of the estate roads.

There is no suitable alternative route available for vehicles.

4. C2042 Kirkandrews-on-Eden and Monkhill (Ref: TTROG10512)

From its junction with A689 Burgh Road Roundabout, extending in a north westerly direction for approx 3.2 km.

Alternative Route: via the unrestricted section of the C2042, U2001 Glasson, C2053, B5307 Kirkbampton, Thurstonfield and Moorhouse and the A689.

5. U1056 near Kirkhouse (Ref: TTROC/10498)

From its junction with the A689 extending in an overall northerly direction for approx. 300m.

Alternative Route: via the A689, Milton, A69 and the unrestricted section of the U1056.

6. C1022 Parkhouse Road, Carlisle (Ref: TTROC/10486)

From its junction with the A689 Parkhouse Road Roundabout, extending in a north westerly direction for approx. B40m.

Alternative Route: via the A689, C1016, C1015 and Parkhouse Road.

7. B6318 near Kirkcambeck (Ref:TTROO10477)

From its junction with the CI013 extending in a northerly direction for approx. 900m.

Alternative Route: via the C1013 Walton, A6071 Laversdale, C1012 Boftonfellend and the unrestricted section of the 36318.

8. B5307 Moorhouse Road, Carlisle (Ref: TTROC/10480)

From its junction with the A689 Moorhouse Road Roundabout, extending in a south easterly for approx. 1.2km.

Alternative Route: via the B5307 Newtown Road, Port Road, A59S Church Street, Bridge Street and Castle Way, Hardwicke Circus, A7 Eden Bridge, Scotland Road and Kingstown Road and the A689.

9. C1012 Houghton Road, Carlisle (Ref: TTROC/10479)

From its junction with The Green, extending in a south easterly for approx. 120m.

Alternative Route: via the unrestricted sections of Houghton Road, the A689 and Brampton Road.

10. A69 Warwick Road and A7 Spencer Street, Carlisle (Ref: TTROC/10517)

(i) Warwick Road from its junction with Lismore Place, extending in a south westerly direction for approx. 460m.

Alternative Route for West Bound Vehicles: via the unrestricted section of Warwick Road, Eastern Way, London Road, Botchergate and The Crescent

(ii) Spencer Street from its junction with Warwick Road, extending in a north westerly direction for approx. 40m.

Alternative Route for South Bound Vehicles: Victoria Place, Warwick Road, Eastern Way, London Road, Botchergate and The Crescent

11. U1193 Sandy Lane, Great Corby (Ref: TTRO/10556)

From its southern junction with Clints Road extending to the point where is meets the railway line There is no suitable alternative route available for vehicles.

12. Beverley Rise, Carlisle (Ref: TTROC/10558)

From its northern junction with Pennine Way outside Nos. 341 and 343 Beverley Rise, extending along to a point at its junction with Edgehill Road and southern junction with Pennine Way outside Nos. 397 and 182 Beverley Rise.

Alternative Route: via Pennine Way

N.B. Vehicle access/egress to and from Beverley Rise will be available to residents, as and when it is deemed safe to do so by the contractor on site

13. C1011 Barclose, Scaleby (Ref: TTROC/10618)

From its junction with the U1091, extending in a north easterly direction for approx. 380m.

Alternative Route: via the C1011, A689, A7 and A6071.
