Southfield Way, Temporary Footpath Closure & Speed Restriction Due To Carriageway Works
What is happening?
The County Council of Durham (A691 Southfield Way, Durham) (Temporary Footway Closure and 30 mph Speed Restriction) Order 2024
The Council proposes to make an Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1984 as amended, Section 14(1) to prohibit and restrict all vehicular and pedestrian traffic from proceeding on the following lengths of road and footway in the manner described Footway Closure (closed to pedestrian traffic) a 663 metre length of northern associated footway of A691 Southfield Way that extends north westward from the footpath link to Old Dryburn Way onto Dryburn Park and footpath link to Dryburn Hill, Durham 30 Speed Restriction (vehicular traffic) No vehicle shall travel at a speed in excess of 30 miles per hour on A691 Southfield Way between A167 Sniperley Roundabout and B6532 Dryburn Road, Durham to enable footway widening, bus stop and carriageway works to be undertaken.
An alternative route will be available to pedestrian traffic from the south eastern side of the closure from Southfield Way /Old Dryburn Road easterly onto Dryburn Road then northerly and north westerly on Dryburn Road then south westerly on Dryburn Park to the north western side of the closure, and vice versa.
The maximum duration of the Order is 18 months. The proposed works are required from 20/5/2024 and for the duration of the works anticipated to be 20 weeks. On occasions, alternative dates for closure may be necessary and these will be signed accordingly.
