Canterbury, Multiple Temporary Traffic Regulation Notices

What is happening?

Highways

Kent County Council, acting in exercise of its powers under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, makes or intends to make the following Orders.

CANTERBURY AREA

B2205 CANTERBURY ROAD, HERNE BAY, CT6 5TE (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER MAY 2024

To allow maintenance works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of B2205 Canterbury Road, Herne Bay, on or after 27th May 2024, for up to 4 days, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed in the vicinity of number 193, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic:-

Northbound is via B2205 Canterbury Road, A299 Thanet Way, Margate Road, Mickleburgh Hill and B2205 Canterbury Road.

Southbound is via B2205 Canterbury Road, High Street, Avenue Road, Sea Street, A2990 Thanet Way and B2205 Canterbury Road.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

CHESTFIELD ROAD, CHESTFIELD, CT5 2LY (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER MAY 2024

To allow bridge inspection works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Chestfield Road, Chestfield, from 22.00 hours on 15th May 2024, with estimated completion by 06.00 hours on 16th May 2024, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed in the vicinity of the railway bridge, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route is via A2990 Thanet Way, B2205 Greenhill Bridge Road, Sea Street, Whitstable Road, Colewood Road, St John’s Road and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

DUCKPIT ROAD, WALTHAM. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER MAY 2024

To allow pole testing works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Duckpit Road, Waltham, on or after 16th May 2024, for up to one day, between the hours of 09.30 and 15.30, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed from the junction with Ansdore Road to the junction with Church Lane, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route is via Duckpit Road, Church Lane, Kake Street, Waltham Road, Broadway, Duckpit Road and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

GROVE FERRY HILL, UPSTREET. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JUNE 2024

To allow renewal works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Grove Ferry Hill, Upstreet, from 02.15 hours on 2nd June 2024, with estimated completion by 04.15 hours on 3rd June 2024, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed in the vicinity of the level crossing, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic (excluding vehicles over 7.5 tonne) is via Grove Ferry Road, Grove Road, Stourmouth Road, Preston Road, The Street, Plucks Gutter, Gore Street, A253 Ramsgate Road, A28 Canterbury Road, Island Road, Grove Ferry Hill and vice versa.

The alternative route for vehicles over 7.5 tonne is via Grove Ferry Road, Grove Road, The Street, Preston Lane, Preston Road, Preston Hill, A257 Goberry Hill, Roman Road, Pedding Hill, Ash Bypass, Sandwich Road, Each End, A256 Sandwich Bypass, Ramsgate Road, Richborough Way, A299 Hengist Way, Canterbury Road West, A253 Canterbury Road and A28 Canterbury Road, Island Road and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

HOLLOW LANE, CANTERBURY, CT1 3TG (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER MAY 2024

To allow pole testing works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Hollow Lane, Canterbury, on or after 28th May 2024, for up to one day, between the hours of 09.30 and 15.30, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed from the junction of Merton Lane, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route is via Iffin Lane, Merton Lane, B2068 Nackington Road, Old Dover Road, A28 Rhodaus Town, Pin Hill, Wincheap Green, Wincheap, Hollow Lane and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

IVY LANE, CANTERBURY, CT1 2NA (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER MAY 2024

To allow maintenance works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Ivy Lane, Canterbury, on or after 15th May 2024, for up to one day, between the hours of 08.00 and 18.00, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed in the vicinity of Travelodge Chaucer Central, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

There is no alternative route for this closure, however, residential and emergency access will be maintained at all times when it is safe to do so.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

MIDDLE WALL, WHITSTABLE, CT5 1AZ (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER MAY 2024

To allow disconnection works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Middle Wall, Whitstable, on or after 31st May 2024, for up to 8 days, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed in the vicinity of number 64, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic:-

Southbound is via Middle Wall, B2205 Horsebridge Road, Sea Street, Harbour Street and High Street.

Northbound is via Middle Wall, B2205 High Street, Terrys Lane and Middle Wall.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

SHALMSFORD STREET, CHARTHAM, CT4 7RU (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER MAY 2024

To allow maintenance works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Shalmsford Street, Chartham, on or after 29th May 2024, for up to 2 days, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed in the vicinity of number 109, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route is via Shalmsford Street, Bolts Hill, Parish Road, The Green, Station Road, A28 Ashford Road and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

UPPER CHANTRY LANE, CANTERBURY, CT1 3JN (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER MAY 2024

To allow service connection works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on Upper Chantry Lane, Canterbury, on or after 28th May 2024, with estimated completion by 30th May 2024, between the hours of 08.00 and 22.00, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed for the entire length, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for vehicles travelling Northeast bound is via B2068 Old Dover Road, St Lawrence Road and A2050 New Dover Road.

The alternative route for vehicles travelling Southwest bound on Oaten Hill is:-

Diversion 1 - A2050 St Georges Place, A28 Upper Bridge Street and B2068 Old Dover Road.

Diversion 2 - A2050 New Dover Road, St Lawrence Road and B2068 Old Dover Road.

Due to the No Right Turn from Oaten Hill, the alternative route will be via B2068 Old Dover Road, St Lawrence Road, A2050 New Dover Road, St George’s Place and A28 Upper Bridge Street.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

WOOD HILL, TYLER HILL, CT2 9NJ (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING & SUSPENSION OF ENVIRONMENTAL WEIGHT LIMIT) TEMPORARY ORDER MAY 2024

To allow new connection works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Wood Hill, Tyler Hill, on or after 28th May 2024, for up to 4 days, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed in the vicinity of Hillside Cottages, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The environmental weight limit on Forty Acres Road, Beaconsfield Road, St Stephen’s Hill and Canterbury Hill will be suspended for the duration of the works.

The alternative route is via Hackington Road, Radfall Road, Radfall Hill, Chestfield Road, A2990 Thanet Way, A290 Clapham Hill, Pean Hill, Honey Hill, Blean Common, Blean Hill, Tile Kiln Hill, Whitstable Road, St Thomas Hill, Whitstable Road, Forty Acres Road, Beaconsfield Road, St Stephen’s Hill, Canterbury Hill and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
