Lewes Road, Temporary Traffic Restrictions Due To Resurfacing Works

Temporary Traffic Order - Lewes Road, Brighton

1. NOTICE is hereby given that Brighton & Hove City Council have on the 25 April 2024 made an Order pursuant to powers in Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended which has the following effect:-

Works to be completed in phases, the following will be in force as and when signed Phase One

(a) The temporary closure of the southbound bus lane and cycle lane on Lewes Road from approximately 100 metres south of the junction with Hillside to the junction with Natal Road

(b) The temporary closure of the central reservations on Lewes Road from approximately 100 metres south of the junction with Hillside to the junction with Natal Road

(c) The temporary prohibition of the right turn movements into and out of all of the roads that join the Lewes Road, Brighton, from approximately 100 metres south of the junction with Hillside to the junction with Natal Road

Phase Two

(d) The temporary closure of the North and South bound running lanes on Lewes Road from approximately 100 metres south of the junction with Hillside to the junction with Natal Road

(e) The temporary suspension of the north and south bound bus lanes on Lewes Road from approximately 100 metres south of the junction with Hillside to the junction with Natal Road, to maintain access

(f) The temporary prohibition of the right turn movements into and out of all of the roads that join the Lewes Road, Brighton from approximately 100 metres south of the junction with Hillside to the junction with Natal Road

Phase Three

(g) The temporary closure of the northbound bus lane and cycle lane on Lewes Road between Natal Road and Selsfield Drive

(h) The temporary closure of the central reservations on Lewes Road between Natal Road and Selsfield Drive

(i) The temporary prohibition of the right turn movements into and out of all of the roads that join the Lewes Road, Brighton between Natal Road and Selsfield Drive

Phase Four

(j) The temporary suspension of the northbound Bus Lane and Cycle Lane Traffic Orders along Lewes Road from opposite the junction of Coombe Road northwards to a point 50 metres north of its junction of Natal Road

(k) The temporary closure of Natal Road at its junction of Lewes Road whilst the southbound carriageway along Lewes Road is resurfaced.

(l) The temporary closure of The Highway at its southern access onto Lewes Road

(m) The Temporary prohibition of the right turn movement from Lewes Road into Saunders Park View North access

(n) The temporary prohibition of the right turn movement from Saunders Park View north access into Lewes Road

(o) To maintain access for residents the Prohibition of Driving Order in Natal Road from a point 8 metres south of the southern kerb line of the North West arm of Natal Road (north of Mithras House) will be suspended and gate opened to allow vehicles to exit only

(p) The temporary suspension of the southbound Bus Lane and Cycle Lane Order along Lewes Road from a point 230m north of its junction with Natal Road southwards to its junction with Coombe Road

(q) The Temporary prohibition of the right turn movement from Natal Road into Lewes Road

(r) The temporary prohibition of the right turn movement from Lewes Road into Natal Road

(s) The temporary prohibition of the right turn movement from The Highway at its southern access onto Lewes Road

(t) The temporary closure of Saunders Park View north access at its junction with Lewes Road

2. The Order is necessary to allow Resurfacing and Section 278 works to take place.

3. Pedestrian access will be maintained, and a signed diversion route will be in place for vehicular traffic when necessary.

4. This Order comes into force on 29 April 2024 for eighteen months or until such sooner time as the works are completed, which is anticipated to be 20 May 2024.
