CITY OF BRISTOL
(VARIOUS ROADS, CLANAGE ROAD (A369) AREA, ASHTON, BRISTOL) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF USE BY VEHICLES) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF USE BY FOOT PASSENGERS) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF ENTRY) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF RIGHT TURN) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF WAITING) ORDER 2024
NOTICE is hereby given that the City Council of Bristol in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended intend to make an Order the effect of which will be:
1. to close, temporarily, to vehicles, the lengths of roads specified in Schedule 1 to this Notice;
2. to close, temporarily, to vehicles and pedestrians, the lengths of roads specified in Schedule 2 to this Notice;
3. to prohibit, temporarily, any vehicle proceeding in the road specified in column 1 of Schedule 3 to this Notice, from entering the road specified in column 2 of the said Schedule;
4. to prohibit, temporarily, any vehicle proceeding in the road specified in column 1 of Schedule 4 to this Notice, from making a right turn into the road specified in column 2 of the said Schedule; and
5. to prohibit, temporarily, any vehicle waiting in that length of road as specified in Schedule 5 to this Notice.
The Order is required because of the likelihood of danger to the public consequent upon the need to facilitate the safe movement of pedestrians and vehicles during periods of increased pedestrian and vehicle activity associated with events, including the Bristol International Balloon Fiesta and the Love Saves the Day music event, taking place at the Ashton Court Estate. The Order will be operative from 24th May 2024 for a maximum period of eighteen months. However, the closures and associated restrictions may not be implemented for the whole of the period, but only as necessitated by the need to close and restrict the roads during periods of increased activity, which are anticipated to take place between the dates specified in Schedule 6 to this Notice (subsequent additional periods of restriction may also be necessitated by any further events that may take place at the Ashton Court Estate within the next eighteen months).
Exemptions:
Item 1. above – Exemption is provided in the Order for official event shuttle buses with the exception of Clanage Road (A369).
Item 2. above – Exemption is provided in the Order for vehicles with a valid Bower Ashton Residents’ Parking Area Residents’ permit and for pedestrians requiring necessary access to premises situated on, adjacent to or accessible only from Courtlands Lane or Parklands Road.
Items 1, 2, 3, & 5. above – Exemptions are provided in the Order for vehicles being used by persons authorised with an official event pass.
