Thorngate - Temporary Prohibition Of Through Traffic

What is happening?

LANCASHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL
(THORNGATE, PENWORTHAM, SOUTH RIBBLE)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2024

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Lancashire County Council intend to make an Order under Section 14(1) (a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit traffic on the roads set out in this notice.
1. No person shall cause any motor vehicle to proceed over that length of Thorngate, Penwortham from it's junction with Whitefield Road, Penwortham to it's junction with Manor Lane, Penwortham.
2. Nothing in this order shall apply to persons engaged in the carrying out of the works.
3. The prohibition will be operative daily from 0800 hours to 1800 hours on Thursday 9th May 2024 to Thursday 16th May 2024 or until completion of the works within this period. The road may be opened earlier each day dependent of works progress at that given time.
4. Vehicular access for residents will be maintained whenever and wherever possible. Emergency services will be maintained access when required.
5. An alternative route for vehicular traffic affected by the closure is via:-
Whitefield Road – Highfield Avenue - Manor Lane vice versa.
The temporary prohibition is necessary to allow resurfacing works to be carried out.
