What is happening?

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 – SECTION 14 (1) AS AMENDED BY THE ROAD TRAFFIC (TEMPORARY RESTRICTIONS) ACT 1991 

THE WALSALL METROPOLITAN BOROUGH COUNCIL TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF RESTRICTED BYWAY 107 WALSALL AT LEVEL CROSSING, NEAR TO JUNCTION WITH FOOTPATH 110 WALSALL, OFF WALLOWS LANE (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF PEDESTRIANS) ORDER 2017

 Notice is hereby given that the Department for Transport has granted approval for the extension of an Order, the effect of which will be to prohibit any traffic from proceeding along the Restricted Byway 107 Walsall, at the railway level crossing at junction with footpath 110 Walsall, near to Wallows Lane. The alternative route for traffic affected by this Order will be via the existing highway along Byway 107 Walsall, Wallows Lane, Bescot Road, Wallows Lane and Restricted Byway 107, Walsall. The Order will be extended for a further 12 months from 20th April 2025 and the restricted byway will be closed for the duration of the ongoing investigations into the permanent closure and/or safety improvements, for up to a maximum period of 12 months, or until permanent closure/ safety improvements are completed, whichever is sooner. It is anticipated that the investigations/ safety improvements will take the maximum permitted 12 month closure period. The Order is required during ongoing investigations into the permanent closure of the level crossing and/or safety improvements following a fatality at the level crossing.
