What is happening?

CYNGOR BWRDEISTREF SIROL CASTELL-NEDD PORT TALBOT (OLD ROAD, PONTARDAWE) (TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE) ORDER 2024
NOTICE is hereby given that Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council intend in not less than seven days from the date of this Notice to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended).
The effect of the Order will be to temporarily prohibit vehicles from driving on the length of road set out in the Schedule below whilst the Order is in force. During such periods as are indicated by traffic signs informing the public that the road is closed.
The Order is necessary to enable Openreach to undertake civil engineering works in the highway and for the Highway Authority to carry out subsequent Highway works in the road.
The Order will come into force on the 20th May 2024 and shall continue in force for a maximum duration of 18 months or until the works are completed, whichever is the sooner. It is estimated the work will take 3 days to complete.
SCHEDULE
Old Road will be closed from outside number 20 Old Road in an easterly direction for a distance of approximately 80m along its length.
The alternative route for vehicular traffic will be via the unaffected section of Old Road & New Road.
Similarly this route will operate in a reverse direction.
Whilst the order is in force the One way traffic order on Old Road will be suspended from it’s junction with New Road for a distance of 160m along its length in a westerly direction.
Access for pedestrian and emergency vehicles will be maintained.
