THE BOROUGH OF BLACKPOOL

NOTICE OF INTENTION TO ESTABLISH A NEW TOUCAN CROSSING 

(ST MARY’S CATHOLIC ACADEMY ST WALBURGAS ROAD,  NORTH OF ST BERNARD AVENUE) 2024 (TRO 1192)

Blackpool Borough Council (‘the Council’) gives notice that it proposes:

•  to establish a new toucan crossing under Section 23 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and any other enabling powers; and

The effect of the proposed toucan crossing will be to:

•   avoiding danger to persons or other traffic using the road or any other road preventing the likelihood of any such danger arising; and

•   facilitating the passage on the road or any other road of any class of traffic (including pedestrians).

Toucan Crossing

The new toucan crossing is proposed to be established on St Walburgas Road north of St Bernard Avenue on the boundary of numbers 167 and 169 St Walburgas Road, the extent of the toucan crossing being described below:

•  St Walburgas Road, 1m south of the property boundary between 167 and 169 St Walburgas Road to the centre of the toucan crossing. The design of the toucan crossing includes the provision of white zig-zag road markings on both sides of it. No parking or waiting would be permitted within the areas marked by white zig-zags.

A copy of the notice, plan showing the location of the proposed toucan crossing and a statement of the Council’s reasons for proposing to establish the crossing may be inspected at Customer First, Municipal Buildings, Corporation Street, Blackpool, FY1 1NF and the Council’s offices at Number 1 Bickerstaffe Square, Talbot Road, Blackpool, FY1 3AH during their normal opening hours.

Any objections and representations relating to the proposed crossing must be made in writing stating the grounds for any objection and should be sent to either;

•   Head of Highway and Traffic Management Services, Blackpool Council, PO Box 4, Blackpool, FY1 1NA; or

•   Email to traffic.management@blackpool.gov.uk quoting the above title before 5.00pm on 21st May 2024.

Please note that the Council may consider all representations received in public and that the substance of any representation together with the name and address of the person making it could become available for public inspection.
