What is happening?

Portsmouth City Council (Lake Road) (Temporary Road Closure) (Temporary Prohibition of Loading and Waiting) (No.54) Order 2024

Notice is hereby given that Portsmouth City Council intends to make the above Order under Section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended by the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991.
The Order comes into operation from 13th May 2024 and the effect will be as follows:
A) TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE AND PROHIBITION OF LOADING AND WAITING
LAKE ROAD (EASTBOUND)
From its junction with Lake Road Roundabout to Clarendon Street.
LAKE ROAD (WESTBOUND)

From its junction with Fratton Road to Lake Road Roundabout. (No access from Fratton Road to Clarendon Street or Turner Road.)
B) REASON FOR THE ORDER
To facilitate footway, cycleway and bus lane improvements works.
C) DURATION OF THE ORDER
From 13th May 2024 to 26th May 2024 or completion of the works, whichever is sooner.
D) DIVERSION
Vehicles will be diverted from Lake Road, Fratton Road, Kingston Road, Kingston Crescent, Mile End Road, Commercial Road, Cornmill Street, Lake Road and Holbrook Road, Victoria Road North, Fratton Road.
Vehicles from Clarendon Street will be diverted eastbound on Lake Road.
Pedestrian access will be maintained around the works.
Cycles to follow vehicle diversion or dismount and follow pedestrian diversion around the works.
