What is happening?
EAST SUSSEX COUNTY COUNCIL
ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984
The East Sussex (U7545 Buckhurst Lane, Wadhurst) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2024
To allow BT Openreach to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;
Temporary Road Closure
Buckhurst Lane – from the junction with B2099 Frant Road to the junction with B2100 Best Beech Hill.
A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via B2099 Frant Road, Station Hill – C271 Faircrouch Lane, Fairglen Road – B2100 Best Beech Hill and vice versa.
The Order commences 30 April 2024 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken on 30 April 2024 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (U7540 Cockmount Lane, Wadhurst) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2024
To allow South East Water to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road; Temporary Road Closure
Cockmount Lane – from the junction with B2100 Sparrows Green Road to the junction with U7524 Jonas Lane.
A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via U7524 Jonas Lane, Gloucester Road – C272 South View Road – B2100 Sparrows Green Road and vice versa.
The Order commences 15 May 2024 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 15 and 17 May 2024, depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (C272 Buckland Hill, Cousley Wood/U7538 Woods Green/U7887 Newbury Lane/U7538 Whitegates Lane/U7542 Tapsells Lane/B2100 The Slade/ B2099 Station Road, Wadhurst/U7571 Rotherhurst Lane, Rotherfield)(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic & Temporary 30mph Speed Limit) Order 2024
To allow South East Water to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily bring into force the following restrictions;
Temporary Road Closures
Buckland Hill – from the junction with C272 Osmers Hill to the junction with U7536 Buckland Hill Lane.
Diversion via C82 Monks Lane – C537 Monks Lane – B2100 Cousley Wood Road – C539 Balaclava Lane – C272 Osmers Hill and vice versa.
Restriction is anticipated to be in place between 13 and 27 May 2024.
Woods Green – from the junction with U7538 Whitegates Lane to the junction with C272 Osmers Hill.
Diversion via C272 Osmers Hill – C539 Balaclava Lane, Turners Green – U7538 Whitegates Lane and vice versa.
Restriction is anticipated to be in place between 18 June and 2 July 2024.
Newbury Lane – from the junction with C82 Newbury Lane to the junction with B2100 Cousley Wood Road.
Diversion via B2100 Cousley Wood Road – C82 Newbury Lane and vice versa.
Restriction is anticipated to be in place between 21 and 25 June 2024.
Whitegates Lane – from the junction with U7538 Woods Green to the junction with C539 Turners Green.
Diversion via C539 Turners Green – U7538 Turners Green – C272 Osmers Hill – U7538 Woods Green and vice versa.
Restriction is anticipated to be in place between 2 and 22 July 2024.
Tapsells Lane – from the junction with C271 Faircrouch Lane to the junction with B2099 Station Road.
Diversion via B2099 Station Road – B2100 Mayfield Lane, Best Beech Hill – C271 Fairglen Road, Faircrouch Lane and vice versa.
Restriction is anticipated to be in place between 23 July and 13 August 2024.
Rotherhurst Lane – from the junction with B2101 High Cross to the junction with C12 Cottage Hill.
Diversion via B2101 High Cross – C12 Cottage Hill and vice versa.
Restriction is anticipated to be in place between 10 and 17 July 2024.
The Slade – from the junction with U7534 Sleepers Stile Road to the county border.
Diversion via B2169 Furnace Lane (Kent), Bayham Road – A267 Frant Road, Mayfield Road – B2099 Wadhurst Road, Frant Road, Station Road, Durgates, B2100 Sparrows Green Road, Cousley Wood Road and vice versa.
Restriction is anticipated to be in place between 12 and 16 July 2024.
Temporary 30mph Speed Limit
Station Road – from Wadhurst Manor to Marling House.
Restriction is anticipated to be in place between 22 and 28 May 2024.
A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible.
The Order commences 13 May 2024 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken as detailed above depending upon the weather conditions.

NOTICE OF PUBLIC LOCAL INQUIRY
Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981
Notice is hereby given that an Inspector will be appointed by the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs to determine East Sussex County Council Public Footpath Wadhurst 79a, 79b, 79c, 79d, 80, 81 & 82) Definitive Map Modification Order 2023 and will attend at: Bells Yew Green Village Hall, Bells Yew Green, Tunbridge Wells TN3 9BJ On 4 June 2024 at 10.00am To hold a public local inquiry into the Order The effect of the Order, if confirmed without modifications, will be to modify the Definitive Map and Statement for the area by adding public footpaths as follows: A route comprising a series of seven public footpaths with an arbitrary centreline route, as detailed below, and as shown on the Order Plan between points B-D; DE; E-F; F-G; A-D; C-E; F-H.
The public footpath commences from a point along existing public footpath Wadhurst 51, in the civil parish of Wadhurst, at point B, near the southern end of Oak Wood, at TQ 6294 3338.
From point B it continues in a generally south-easterly direction through woodland and a clearing for 150 metres, to point D near the western edge of Stonebridge Wood at TQ 6306 3329.
From point D, the footpath continues in a generally east southeasterly direction through Stonebridge Wood for 35 metres to point E, at TQ 6309 3327.
From point E the route continues in the generally east southeasterly direction through Stonebridge Wood for 115 metres, to point F, near the eastern edge of Stonebridge Wood, at TQ 6320 3323.
From point F, the route continues in a generally south-easterly direction for 125 through woodland with a clearing to join existing public footpath Wadhurst 45 at point G, at TQ 6328 3315.
From point A, at a point on existing public footpath Wadhurst 51, at TQ 6299 3329, the footpath continues in a generally easterly direction for 20 metres to meet a stream at TQ 6301 3328. The route continues over and beyond the stream in a generally east north-easterly direction for 45 metres to point D, at TQ 6306 3329 rom point C, at a point on existing public footpath Wadhurst 51, at TQ 6291 3346, the footpath continues in a generally easterly direction through Oak Wood, for 90 metres to TQ 6300 3345, then in a south-easterly direction through Oak Wood for 60 metres to TQ 6304 3340, and then in a south-south easterly direction through Oak Wood for 100 metres to near the edge of Stonebridge Wood at TQ 6307 3331, then continuing in the same south-south easterly through Stonebridge Wood for 35 metres, to point E, at 6309 3327.
From point F, at TQ 6320 3323, the footpath continues in a generally easterly direction through woodland for 60 metres to TQ 6326 3323, then continues in a generally east southeasterly direction through woodland for 75 metres to join existing public footpath Wadhurst 45 at point H, at TQ 6332 3320.
The width of the public footpath between will be 1.5 metres throughout.
The total length of the public footpath to be added is 910 metres.
