What is happening?
Hertfordshire County Council:
(Temporary Closing Of Swangleys Lane, Knebworth) Order 2024
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Swangleys Lane, Knebworth from its junction with Old Lane north westwards to its junction with B197 London Road, a distance of approximately 279m ("the Road"), except for access.
An alternative route will be via Old Lane, Watton Road and B197 London Road.
The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.
If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 12 May 2024 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(Temporary Closing And Temporary Waiting Restrictions In Essex Road, Stevenage) Order 2024
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Essex Road, Stevenage from its junction with Julians Road north eastwards, north westwards and south westwards for its entire length ("the Road"), except for access.
There is no alternative route available for vehicles when the works are being carried out. However vehicular access to properties in this road will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.
ADDITIONALLY all vehicles are prohibited from waiting at any time on both sides of this length of the Road whilst works are in progress. The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.
If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 13 May 2024 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(Temporary Closing Of Wratten Road West And Meadow Way, Hitchin) Order 2024
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following lengths of roads ("the Roads"), except for access:-
1. that length of Wratten Road West, Hitchin from its junction with Meadow Way north westwards for a distance of approximately 50m. An alternative route will be via Meadow Way, Hawthorn Close, Charlton Road, Willow Lane, A505 (Moormead Hill/Offley Road) and Wratten Road West.
2. that length of Meadow Way, Hitchin from its junction with Wratten Road West south westwards for a distance of approximately 20m. An alternative route will be via Wratten Road West, A505 (Offley Road/Moormead Hill), Willow Lane, Charlton Road, Hawthorn Close and Meadow Way.
The Order is needed because the replacement of an existing gas mains is proposed to be executed on or near the Roads. If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 13 May 2024 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Roads.

An alternative route will be via Lower Road, Oxford Road, Chapel Road, Heath Road, The Heath, Darley Road, Church Road, Lilley Bottom Road and Lower Road.
The Order is needed because utility service works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road. The Order has been made and shall come into force on 30 April 2024 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

An alternative route will be via Fishers Green, Stevenage Road, Blakemore End Road, Stevenage Road, A602 (Hitchin Road/Lytton Way/High Street/James Way/Lytton Way), Julian Road, Fishers Green Road and Fishers Green or via Fishers Green, Fishers Green Road, Julian Road, A602 (Lytton Way/Hitchin Road), Stevenage Road, Blakemore End Road, Stevenage Road and Fishers Green. The Order is needed because resurfacing works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road. The Order has been made and shall come into force on 29 April 2024 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following lengths of roads ("the Roads"), except for access and to prohibit all vehicles from waiting at any time on both sides of these lengths of Roads whilst works are in progress:-
1. that length of Chilvers Bank, Baldock from its junction with Weston Way south westwards and south eastwards to its junction with St Marys Way, a distance of approximately 502m.
There is no alternative route available for vehicles when the works are being carried out. However vehicular access to properties in this road will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.
2. that length of The Rise, Baldock from its junction with Chilvers Bank north eastwards to its junction with The Leas, a distance of approximately 31m.

3. that length of The Leas, Baldock from its junction with Chilvers Bank south eastwards to its junction with St Marys Way, a distance of approximately 304m.

4. that length of St Marys Way, Baldock from its junction with Chilvers Bank north eastwards, south eastwards and north eastwards for a distance of approximately 372m.

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following lengths of roads ("the Roads"), except for access and to prohibit all vehicles from waiting at any time on both sides of these lengths of Roads whilst works are in progress:-
1. that length of Eldefield, Letchworth Garden City from its junction with Wilbury Hills Road south eastwards to its junction with Bursland, a distance of approximately 484m.
An alternative route will be via Wilbury Hills Road, Icknield Way and Bursland.
2. the service road situated on the south side of 'St Hugh and St Johns Church', Stevenage from its southernmost junction with Mobbsbury Way south eastwards for a distance of approximately 62m.
An alternative route will be via Mobbsbury Way and the service road situated on the south side of 'St Hugh and St Johns Church'.
3. that length of Church Lane, Preston from its junction with Butchers Lane north eastwards, south eastwards and north eastwards to its junction with School Lane, a distance of approximately 297m.
An alternative route will be via Back Lane, Parsonage Lane, Church Road, Lilley Bottom Road, B651 (High Street/Hitchin Road/ Whitwell Road), Hitchwood Lane and School Lane.
4. that length of The Dale, Letchworth Garden City from its junction with Station Road south eastwards for a distance of approximately 60m.
An alternative route will be via Station Way, The Meads, Broadwater Avenue and The Dale.
The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads.
The Order has been made and shall come into force on 29 April 2024 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Roads.

(Temporary Closing Of The Cycle Track Situated On The North Side Of Cavendish Road And The Cycle Track Situated On The North West Side Of A1072 Gunnels Wood Road, Stevenage) Order 2024
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following lengths of cycle track ("the Cycle Track"), except for access:-
1. the cycle track situated on the north side of Cavendish Road, Stevenage from its junction with Cavendish Road north eastwards for a distance of approximately 65m.
An alternative route will be via the cycle track situated on the south side of Cavendish Road, the cycle track situated beneath A1072 Gunnels Wood Road, the cycle track situated on the south east side of A1072 Gunnels Wood Road, the cycle track situated beneath the A1072 Gunnels Wood Road/Bridge Road West roundabout and the cycle track situated on the north west side of A1072 Gunnels Wood Road.
2. the cycle track situated on the north west side of A1072 Gunnels Wood Road, Stevenage from a point 26m south east of its junction with Cavendish Road north westwards for a distance of approximately 305m.
An alternative route will be via the cycle track situated beneath A1072 Gunnels Wood Road, the cycle track situated on the south east side of A1072 Gunnels Wood Road, the cycle track situated beneath the A1072 Gunnels Wood Road/Bridge Road West roundabout and the cycle track situated on the north west side of A1072 Gunnels Wood Road.
The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Cycle Track.
The Order has been made and shall come into force on 29 April 2024 for a period of up to 6 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Cycle Track.

(Temporary Closing Of Fishers Green, Stevenage) Order 2024
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Fishers Green, Stevenage from its junction with Perranporth
A copy of the proposed Orders may be inspected free of charge at County Hall, Hertford between the hours of 9am and 5pm (excluding weekends, bank and public holidays).
The Hertfordshire (Harrison Close, Passingham Avenue And Whitehill Road, Hitchin) (Restriction Of Waiting) Order 2024
NOTICE is given that the Hertfordshire County Council in order to improve road safety proposes under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 to introduce new waiting restrictions in parts of Hitchin as specified in the Schedule to this Notice. NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following lengths of roads ("the Roads"), except for access and to prohibit all vehicles from waiting at any time on both sides of these lengths of Roads whilst works are in progress:-
1. that length of Bearton Road, Hitchin from its junction with the A600 Bedford Road roundabout north eastwards and south eastwards to its junction with Ickleford Road, a distance of approximately 695m.
An alternative route will be via A600 Bedford Road, A505 (Fishponds Road/Bunyan Road/Nightingale Road), Grove Road, Water Lane and Periwinkle Lane.
2. that length of Periwinkle Lane, Hitchin from its junction with Bearton Road north eastwards to its junction with the Strathmore Avenue/Water Lane roundabout, a distance of approximately 178m. An alternative route will be via Bearton Road, A600 Bedford Road, A505 (Fishponds Road/Bunyan Road/Nightingale Road), Grove Road and Water Lane.
The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads.
