York, Multiple Roads, Temporary Prohibitions & Restrictions

What is happening?

TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS

Notice is hereby given that City of York Council (the Council), in exercise of powers under Sections 14(1) & 15(8) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (the Act), made an order on the 25th day of April 2024 in respect of the locations numbered (1) & (2). Furthermore, the Council, not less than 7 days from the publication of this Notice, intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Act in respect of the locations numbered (3), (4) & (5).

(1) VINE STREET. YORK

This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Vine Street, York between its junction with Cherry Street and the projected western boundary of property No. 17 (closed road) during the period when sewer repair works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0800hrs on Monday, 29 April 2024 and ending at 1700hrs on Friday, 03 May 2024 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. Access will be maintained for residents and emergency vehicles throughout the works period.

(2) TAMWORTH ROAD. YORK

This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Tamworth Road, York between its roundabout controlled junction with Water Lane and a location 20 metres south-east of said junction (closed road) during the period when sewer maintenance works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0900hrs on Thursday, 02 May 2024 and ending at 1430hrs on Thursday, 02 May 2024 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Arlington Road, Water Lane.

(3) NAVIGATION ROAD. YORK

This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Navigation Road, York between its junction with Foss Islands Road and a location 40 metres south-west of said junction (closed road) during the period when highway resurfacing works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0700hrs on Tuesday, 07 May 2024 and ending at 1700hrs on Friday, 07 June 2024 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. Additionally, the 'ONE WAY' direction of traffic flow in Navigation Road between the junction with Rosemary Place and a location 50 metres north of said junction is suspended during the period of physical closure to allow two-way traffic flow in the said road and all on-street parking on the northern side of Navigation Road between locations 40 metres and 113 metres south-west of the junction with Foss Islands Road (restricted road) will be suspended for the works period only. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Foss Islands Road, Barbican Road, Paragon Street, Fishergate, Tower Street, Piccadilly, Lead Mill Lane, Hope Street.

(4) LOW PETERGATE. YORK

This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Barker Lane, York between its junctions with Toft Green and Micklegate (closed road) during the period when telecoms works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 2100hrs on Tuesday, 07 May 2024 and ending at 0600hrs on Friday, 07 June 2024 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the road will be closed between 2100hrs and 0600hrs each night for the works period only. Additionally, the 'ONE WAY' direction of traffic flow in Low Petergate between the junction with Church Street and a location 90 metres north-west of said junction is suspended during the period of physical closure to allow two-way traffic flow in the said road. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Grape Lane, Swinegate, Church Street.

(5) YORK ROAD. LINK ROAD. CARR LANE. SEVERUS AVENUE. MANOR DRIVE SOUTH & HEBDON RISE. ACOMB

This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on York Road, Link Road, Carr Lane, Severus Avenue, Manor Drive South & Hebdon Rise, Acomb (i) on York Road between the projected eastern boundary of property No. 135 and a location 42 metres south-east of its junction with Fairfax Court and (ii) on Link Road between the roundabout controlled junctions with York Road and Front Street and (iii) on Carr Lane, Severus Avenue, Manor Drive South and Hebdon Rise between their respective junctions with York Road and locations 20 metres north of said junctions (closed road) during the period when highway resurfacing works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 1900hrs on Tuesday, 07 May 2024 and ending at 0200hrs on Wednesday, 22 May 2024 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the works will only take place between 1900hrs and 0200hrs each night of the works period only. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via A59 Boroughbridge Road, A1237, Wetherby Road, The Green.

The above temporary Orders will not prohibit works or emergency access nor will they prohibit access to premises provided that access is not prevented by on-going works or safety concerns. Traffic signs/barriers will indicate the extent of the prohibitions/restrictions.

City of YORK COUNCIL NOTICE OF PROPOSALS THE YORK SPEED LIMIT (AMENDMENT) (No 14/161 ORDER 2024

Notice is hereby given that City of York Council, in exercise of powers under Sections 82, 83, 84 and Schedule 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1984 ("the Act") and of all other enabling powers and after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Schedule 9 of the Act, proposes to make an Order which will have the effect, of:

1. Introducing a 40 miles per hour speed limit in Black Dike Lane, Upper Poppleton, between the projected kerbline of Boroughbridge Road (A59) and the southern property boundary line of Micklethorpe House, thereby revoking the existing statutory national speed limit from within that length.

2. Introducing a 40 miles per hour speed limit in Hodgson Lane, Upper Poppleton, between the projected kerbline of Boroughbridge Road (A59) and the southern property boundary line of York House, thereby revoking the existing statutory national speed limit from within that length.

A copy of the draft Order, Statement of Reasons for making it and relevant maps can be inspected at the Reception, West Offices, Station Rise, York, during normal business hours. Objections or other representations specifying reasons for the objection or representation should be sent to me in writing to arrive no later than 17th May 2024.
