What is happening?

West Sussex County Council

(Shoreham: Steyning Road (A283)) 

(Temporary Night-Time Closure) Order 2024

NOTICE is hereby given that West Sussex County Council has made an Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to temporarily close Steyning Road

(A283) in Shoreham, from its junction with the A27 interchange, northwards for 350m.

The road closure is needed to maintain safety while maintenance to the A27 Shoreham Flyover is carried out.

The Order will operate overnight from 8pm to 6am and will come into effect on 29 April 2024. The works are expected to take until 31 May 2024 but once made the Order may remain in force for up to 18 months, or until the proposed works are completed, whichever is earlier.

During the operative periods of this Order alternative routes for vehicles will be indicated on site. Access to properties on the affected length of road will be maintained at all times.

(Worthing and Ferring: Various Roads) (RunFest)

(Temporary Closure) Order 2024

NOTICE is hereby given that West Sussex County Council has made an Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to temporarily close the following roads in Worthing and Ferring throughout their entire length unless otherwise stated:

STEYNE GARDENS, THE STEYNE, MARINE PARADE/WEST PARADE, GEORGE V AVENUE: from West Parade to Eirene Road, EIRENE ROAD/MARINE CRESCENT/MARINE DRIVE, SEA LANE (Goring), GLYNDE AVENUE, AMBERLEY DRIVE: from Glynde Avenue to Aldsworth Avenue, AUGUSTA PLACE: from Marine Parade, northwards to the entrance to the Grafton multi storey car park, HEENE ROAD.

During the operative period of the Order the one-way traffic restriction on Crescent Road and Augusta Place will be suspended to maintain access to the Grafton multi storey car park.

These road closures will operate at various times between 7am and 2pm on Sunday 28 April 2024 and are needed to allow the Worthing RunFest 2024 event to take place safely.

During the operative periods of this Order alternative routes for vehicles will be indicated on site. Access to properties on the affected length of road will be maintained at all times under the direction of event marshals.

(Angmering: Public Footpath 2149)

(Temporary Closure No.2) Order 2023

NOTICE is hereby given that the Secretary of State has granted permission to extend the above Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, which presently temporarily closes Public Footpath 2149 in Angmering, from its junction with Water Lane, northwards for a distance of 415 m.

The continued closure of this footpath is needed to maintain public safety while a property development is constructed on adjacent land.

The Order will now remain in effect until 30 April 2027 or until the proposed works are completed, whichever is earlier. During the operative periods of this Order an alternative route will be provided on adjacent land.

(Consolidation) Order 2010)

(East Preston: Sea Road and North Lane Amendment) Order 2024

NOTICE is hereby given that West Sussex County Council has recently made a permanent Order under the provisions of the Road Traffic regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to enact recently installed restrictions that prohibit waiting at any time on the eastern side of Sea Road in East Preston from its northern junction with the Sea Road Service Road, to its southern junction with Sea Road Service Road.

The Order also prohibits waiting at any time on the western side of North Lane from its junction with Lashmar Road, southwards to the existing ‘School Keep Clear’ marking.

A copy of the Order, which will come into operation on 29 April 2024, together with plans showing the affected lengths of road may be viewed on the West Sussex County Council website. People without access to a computer who wish to view details of the scheme should telephone the West Sussex County Council Contact Centre on 01243 642105 to receive the documents by post.

Any person who wishes to question the validity of this Order, or of any provision contained therein, on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Act, or on the grounds that any requirement of the Act, or any instrument made under it, has not been complied with in relation to the Order, may within 6 weeks from 25 April 2024, apply to the High Court for this purpose. Worthing: Salvington Road (Cotswold Road/

Acacia Avenue Junction)

Traffic Calming Measure 2024

NOTICE is hereby given that West Sussex County Council, under the provisions of the Highways Act 1980 (Traffic calming) Regulations intends to install a raised traffic calming feature on Salvington Road in Worthing in Worthing.

A speed table feature would be installed at the crossroads junction of Salvington Road with Cotswold Road and Acacia Avenue. This feature would be 21 metres in length and extend 5.5 metres into Cotswold Road and Acacia Avenue.

The feature will be constructed from black macadam and would be 65mm in height. The ramps for each feature would be 1.5  metres long.
