What is happening?

OXFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL

OXFORD: B480 GARSINGTON ROAD - PROPOSED TRAFFIC CALMING MEASURES, SHARED USE FOOTWAY/ CYCLEWAYS & TOUCAN CROSSING

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Oxfordshire County Council as the local highway authority under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and all other enabling powers proposes to introduce a toucan crossing, raised table crossings and the conversion of footways to shared use footway/cycleways on the B480 Garsington Road, Oxford at the following locations:

1. Flat Top Road Humps (with ramp heights of no greater than 75mm & gradients no greater than 1:15) to be located at junctions with the B480 Garsington Road including: John Smith Drive, Oxford Business Park, Phipps Road, Napier Road and St. Lukes Road, extending the full width of the footways.

These changes will help to help improve safety for vehicles and cyclists using, crossing and manoeuvring at the junctions.

2. A Toucan crossing (signal-controlled crossing for use by both pedestrians and pedal cyclists) on the B480 Garsington Road, Oxford - located approx 74 metres southeast of the centre line of Phipps Road.

3. New Shared-Use foot & cycleways order to help improve pedal cyclist safety in the area - at the following locations on the B480 Garsington Road:

a. South side - commencing 19 metres east of the centre line of the central island on John Smith Drive, continuing to a point 19 metres north-west with its junction with St. Luke's Road, a total distance of 308 metres.

b. North side - commencing 39 metres south-east of the centre line of the central island to Oxford Business Park, continuing to a point 64 metres south-east of the centre line of Phipps Road, a total distance of 90 metres.

*All dimensions are approximate, with details (including materials) to be determined as part of the final design process should approval be given. Documents giving more details of the proposals are available for public inspection online by visiting: https:// letstalk.oxfordshire.gov.uk. Copies may also be made available on request.

Objections to the proposals and other representations specifying the grounds on which they are made may be sent in writing to the address below by 24 May 2024. The Council will consider objections and representations received in response to this Notice. They may be disseminated widely for these purposes and made available to the public.
