M2 MOTORWAY (JUNCTIONS 3 TO 2)
TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS
Notice is hereby given that National Highways Limited has made an Order on the M2 Motorway in the County of Kent, under Section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 because works are proposed to be executed on the road.
The effect of the Order is to:-
1. authorise the overnight and weekend closure of the London-bound carriageway of the M2 between the exit and entry slips at Junction 2 (A228); and
2. authorise the overnight closure of the Londonbound carriageway of the M2 between Junction 3 (A229) and Junction 2 (A228); and all the slip roads
leading to and from it.
These measures are in the interests of road safety while contractors undertake bridge works including joint replacement, waterproofing, resurfacing and all associated works.
It is expected that the work will last for approximately 3 weeks starting on or after Friday 17th May 2024. The overnight closures will take place between 20:00 and 06:00 hours (maximum period). The up-and-over weekend closure at Junction 2 is scheduled to take place between the total Junctions 3-2 closure on Saturday and Sunday 18-19th May and again 1-2nd June. Please visit the National Highways website for further details.
The Order will come into force on 15th May 2024 and have a maximum duration of eighteen months, ceasing when the works are complete.
Traffic affected by the closure described in 1. above will be directed to leave the carriageway and re-join after the junction. Traffic affected by the closure
described in 2. above will be diverted using the A229, M20, and the A228.
The temporary closures, and diversion routes will be clearly indicated by traffic signs when they are in operation during the works period.
