What is happening?
Highways
Kent County Council, acting in exercise of its powers under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, makes or intends to make the following Orders.
MAIDSTONE AREA
A249 DETLING INTERCHANGE, BOXLEY ME14 3ER (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2024
To allow National Highways to carry out highway maintenance works, Kent County Council intends to make an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of A249 Detling Interchange, Boxley, on or after 13th May 2024 for up to 11 days or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed from A249 Sittingbourne Road to A249 Newnham Court Roundabout, between the hours of 20:00 and 06:00 only. To the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any northbound motorway traffic through traffic is via M20 Jct 7 Westbound, M20 to A229 Jct 5&6 Westbound, A229 to M20 Jct 5&6 Eastbound, M20 Jct 7 Eastbound, A249 Sittingbourne Road.
The alternative route for any southbound motorway traffic through traffic is via A249 Detling Interchange, A249 Sittingbourne Road, A249 Newnham Court Roundabout, A249 Sittingbourne Road, M20 Jct 7 Westbound.
The alternative route for any other through traffic is via A249 Newnham Court Roundabout, A249 Bearsted Road, A249 Sittingbourne Road, Penenden Heath Road, Boxley Road, The Street, Pilgrims Way, A249 Sittingbourne Road.
B2010 YALDING HILL, YALDING, ME18 6JL (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2024
To allow electric works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of B2010 Yalding Hill, Yalding, on or after 19th May 2024 for up to 1 day or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed opposite Walnut Close. To the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via B2010 Yalding Hill, B2010 High Street, B2162 Benover Road, B2010 Collier Street, Green Lane, Underlyn Lane, B2079 Maidstone Road, A229 Staplehurst Road, A229 Linton Hill, B2163 Heath Road, B2163 Ewell Lane, B2010 Smiths Hill and vice versa.
B2163 HEATH ROAD & B2163 EWELL LANE, WEST FARLEIGH, ME15 0NH (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2024
To allow fibre works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of B2163 Heath Road & B2163 Ewell Lane, West Farleigh, on or after 29th April 2024 for up to 4 days or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed from the junctions of B2010 Lower Road to Upper Barn Hill, between the hours of 19:00 and 05:00 only. To the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via B2163 Heath Road, Dean Street, B2010 Lower Road, B2163 Ewell Lane and vice versa.
BUCKLAND ROAD, MAIDSTONE, ME16 8HS (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2024
To allow water supply disconnection works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of Buckland Road, Maidstone, on or after 13th May 2024 for up to 3 days or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed outside The Cooperage. To the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Buckland Road, St Peters Street, Buckland Hill, Buckland Road and vice versa.
CHURCH LANE, EAST SUTTON ME17 3DE (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2024
To allow overhead fibre works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of Church Lane, East Sutton, on or after 17th May 2024 for up to 1 day or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed outside East Sutton Parish Hall, between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30 only. To the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Workhouse Lane, Chartway Street, Charlton Lane and vice versa.
GRIGG LANE, HEADCORN, TN27 9LS (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2024
To allow fire hydrant replacement works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of Grigg Lane, Headcorn, on or after 14th May 2024 for up to 4 days or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed outside The Ringles. To the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Baker Lane, Lenham Road, Forge Lane, Oak Lane, Grigg Lane and vice versa.
HUNTON ROAD, MARDEN TN12 9SN (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2024
To allow water works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of Hunton Road, Marden, on or after 15th May 2024 for up to 3 days or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed outside Kingfisher Lodge. To the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Hunton Road, East Street, Hunton Hill, Upper Hunton Hill, B2163 Heath Road, A229 Linton Hill, A229 Staplehurst Road, Maidstone Road, Underlyn Lane, Green Lane and vice versa.
KENT COUNTY SHOWGROUND EVENTS (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING, NO RIGHT TURN, TEMPORARY SPEED LIMIT & CLEARWAY RESTRICTION) TEMPORARY ORDER 2024
To allow events to be held at the Kent County Showground, Kent County Council has made an Order restricting through traffic on Various Roads in Maidstone.
Event Schedule for 2024
• BHP Performance Car Show - from 5th May 2024, with an estimated completion by 5th May 2024.
• Kent Garden Show - from 25th May 2024, with an estimated completion by 27th May 2024.
• Kent County Show - from 5th July 2024, with an estimated completion by 7th July 2024.
• Military Odyssey - from 24th August 2024, with an estimated completion by 26th August 2024.
• Paws in the Park - from 14th September 2024, with an estimated completion by 15th September 2024.
The following restrictions will be imposed only on the event dates listed above.
Speed Restrictions
It will be necessary to impose temporary mandatory speed limits on the following roads:
• Detling Hill, Detling & Sittingbourne Road, Thurnham (Northbound) - 40mph speed limit will be imposed from the junction with Scragged Oak Road up to the vicinity of the Shell Garage.
• Scragged Oak Road, Stockbury - 30mph speed limit will be imposed between the junctions with Cox Street and A249 Detling Hill.
• Sittingbourne Road, Thurnham & Detling Hill, Detling (Southbound) - 50mph speed limit will be imposed from the junction with Chalky Road to the off-slip near the junction with Scragged Oak Road.
• Detling Hill, Detling (Southbound) - 40mph speed limit will be imposed from the off-slip near the junction with Scragged Oak Road near to the junction with The Street.
Prohibition of right turn
Vehicles will be prohibited from turning right, expect upon the direction of a Police Officer, cause or permit a vehicles to turn right, on the following roads between the hours of 08:00 and 18:00 only:
• Scragged Oak Road, Stockbury - from turning right into A249 Detling Hill southbound.
• A249 Detling Hill, Detling - from turning right into Scragged Oak Road northbound.
• Rumstead Lane, Stockbury - from turning right into A249 Sittingbourne Road.
• A249 Sittingbourne Road, Stockbury - from turning right into Rumstead Lane.
• South Green Lane, Sittingbourne - from turning right into A249 Sittingbourne Road northbound.
• Sittingbourne Road, Stockbury - from turning right into South Green Lane.
Lane Closure
A249 Detling Hill, Detling (Northbound) will have a lane closure in place on lane 1 from the main gate to the exit located near the Shell Garage, to allow for vehicles to join the A249 safely.
Clearway Restriction
A Clearway Restriction will be imposed on both the northbound and southbound carriageways of Sittingbourne Road, Detling, A249 Detling Hill and Sittingbourne Road, Stockbury between junction 7 of the M20 and Junction 5 of the M2.
The alternative route for any through traffic affected by the above restrictions are either:
• Traffic travelling northbound is via the roundabout at junction 5 of the M2 motorway.
• Traffic travelling southbound is via the roundabout at junction 7 of the M20 motorway.
MARLEY ROAD, HARRIETSHAM, ME17 1BT (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2024
To allow new electric connection to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of Marley Road, Harrietsham, on or after 30th April 2024 for up to 4 days or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed outside Glebe Croft. To the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Pilgrims Way, Stede Hill, Marley Road and vice versa.
