THE CITY OF SUNDERLAND
(CLOSURE OF ASHFORD ROAD SUNDERLAND)
TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2024

Sunderland City Council gives notice that it intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit all traffic along Ashford Road, Sunderland, from its junction with Anglesey Road to its junction with the access to the rear of Carlisle House. The Order is required because works are being proposed to be executed on or near the road to facilitate construction works to the entrance/egress of Farringdon Community Academy. The Order will come into operation on 19th August 2024. The maximum duration of the closure under the Order will be 18 months, however it is estimated that the closure will be in operation for approximately 2 weeks from commencement of the works. All traffic will be prohibited from the road (except personnel and vehicles involved in the works) until the works are completed or at such times and to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the display of traffic signs. Vehicular access for affected residents will be provided when essential or in an emergency and when the works are not in operation. Pedestrian access to affected properties will be maintained throughout. Alternative routes will be provided via the adjacent highway network.
Dated 22nd April 2024 Patrick Melia, Chief Executive,
Sunderland City Council, City Hall, Plater Way, Sunderland SR1 3AA
