(SOMERSET SQUARE, REDCLIFF, BRISTOL) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF USE BY
VEHICLES) (TEMPORARY SUSPENSION OF ONE WAY TRAFFIC) ORDER 2024
NOTICE is hereby given that the City Council of Bristol in pursuance of the provisions of
section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended intend to make an Order
the effect of which will be:
1. to close, temporarily, to vehicles those lengths of Somerset Square as specified in
the Schedule to this Notice; and
2. to suspend, temporarily, when appropriate signs are covered, the existing one way
traffic working in a clockwise direction in Somerset Square so as to give effect to the
alternative route as a consequence of item 1. above.
The Order is required because works are being or are proposed to be executed on or
near the road and will be operative from 14th May 2024 for a maximum period of
eighteen months.
However, the restrictions may not be implemented for the whole of the period, but only
when traffic signs are in position as necessitated by the works. (It is anticipated that the
works will occur in 3 phases and will be of between 2 and 3 weeks duration for each
phased closure within the period between 14th May 2024 and 11th November 2024).
ALTERNATIVE ROUTE: Somerset Square (part unaffected), Prewett Street, Somerset
Square (part unaffected) and vice versa
SCHEDULE – Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles
Phase 1 – from a point 44 metres south east of its easternmost junction with
Prewett Street south eastwards for 19 metres
Phase 2 – from a point 62 metres south east of its easternmost junction with
Prewett Street generally south westwards for 50 metres
Phase 3 – from a point 33 metres south east of its westernmost junction with
Prewett Street south eastwards for 22 metres

(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF USE BY VEHICLES) ORDER 2024
NOTICE is hereby given that the City Council of Bristol in pursuance of the provisions of
section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended intend to make an Order
the effect of which will be to close, temporarily, to vehicles that length of Ship Lane which
extends from a point 24 metres south of Prewett Street southwards for 18 metres.
The Order is required because works are being or are proposed to be executed on or
near the road and will be operative from 14th May 2024 for a maximum period of
eighteen months. However, the closure may not be implemented for the whole of the
period, but only as necessitated by the works (which are anticipated to take place
between 14th May 2024 and 2nd December 2024).

NOTICE is hereby given that the City Council of Bristol in pursuance of the provisions of
section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended intend to make an Order
the effect of which will be to close, temporarily, to pedestrians the entire length of Public
Right of Way 400, incorporating Langton Street Bridge which extends from Clarence
Road to York Road, including the approach steps.
The Order is required because bridge structural refurbishment works are being or are
proposed to be executed on or near the public right of way and will be operative from
13th May 2024 for a maximum period of six months (subject to necessary extension).

(TEMPORARY USE OF RESERVED BUS LANE) ORDER 2024
NOTICE is hereby given that the City Council of Bristol in pursuance of the provisions of
section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended intend to make an Order
the effect of which will be:
1. to close, temporarily, to vehicles the lengths of roads as specified in Schedule 1 to
this Notice;
2. to prohibit, temporarily, any vehicle proceeding in the road specified in column 1 of
Schedule 2 to this Notice, from making a right turn into the road specified in column
2 of the said Schedule;
3. to introduce, temporarily, one way traffic working in the lengths of roads specified in
column 1 of Schedule 3 to this Notice, in the directions indicated in relation to those
lengths of roads in column 2 of the said Schedule;
4. to suspend, temporarily, when appropriate signs are covered, the existing one way
traffic working in a north westerly direction in Lower Maudlin Street so as to allow
access and egress for works vehicles; and
5. to permit, temporarily, HGVs to use the south eastbound reserved bus lane in
operation in Colston Street, between Pipe Lane and Colston Avenue, so as to give
effect to the item 4. and item 11. alternative routes for HGVs (see Schedule 5) as a
consequence of item 1. above.
Exemption will be provided in the Order for vehicles requiring necessary access to
premises situated on, adjacent to or accessible only from the closed lengths of roads
(see Schedule 1), where possible.
In addition, the restrictions of lengths of roads specified in Schedule 1 and Schedule 3
to this Notice which also provide part of an alternative route (as specified in Schedule 5
to this Notice) will be managed so as to allow the provision of the alternative routes
whilst facilitating the works programme.
The Order is required because works are being or are proposed to be executed on or
near the roads and will be operative from 6th May 2024 for a maximum period of
eighteen months. However, the restrictions may not be implemented for the whole of the
period, but only as necessitated by the works (please see Schedule 4 below for more
details regarding durations).
