What is happening?

THE NOTTINGHAMSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL
(RESURFACING WORKS, RETFORD)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) ORDER 2024 (BS24-078)

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Nottinghamshire County Council has made an Order, under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, in respect of roads at Retford in the District of Bassetlaw.

The effects of the Order will be:

1. Vehicles are prohibited from proceeding in the following length of road: -

a. A638 Arlington Way - from its junction with A638 London Road to its junction with A620 Amcott Way.
b. Grove Street - from its junction with Union Street to its junction with Common Road.
c. Chapelgate - from its junction with Chapelgate Court to its junction with A638 Arlington Way.
d. Spital Hill - from its junction with A638 Arlington Way to its junction with Wellington Street.
e. Beardsalls Row - from its junction with A638 Arlington Way in a westerly direction for a distance of 65 metres.
f. New Street - from its junction with A638 Arlington Way to its junction with East Street.

2. Vehicles are prohibited from waiting, loading and unloading in the following length of road: -

a. A638 Arlington Way - from its junction with A638 London Road to its junction with A620 Amcott Way.
b. Grove Street - from its junction with Union Street to its junction with Common Road.
c. Chapelgate - from its junction with Chapelgate Court to its junction with A638 Arlington Way.
d. Spital Hill - from its junction with A638 Arlington Way to its junction with Wellington Street.
e. Beardsalls Row - from its junction with A638 Arlington Way in a westerly direction for a distance of 65 metres.
f. New Street - from its junction with A638 Arlington Way to its junction with East Street.

3. All existing permanent restrictions will be temporarily suspended as required.

4. The restrictions specified above shall only be in effect when the signs are in place.

IT IS INTENDED that the prohibitions respecting the above road or roads will apply as follows:

From 20:00 hours on Monday 22nd April 2024
Until 06:00 hours on Monday 6th May 2024

AND NOTICE IS HEREBY FURTHER GIVEN that during the period of restriction the alternative route available will be:

Arlington Way (Vehicles Above 7.5wt) - A620 Amcott Way - A620 Hospital Road - A620 Babworth Road - B6420 Mansfield Road (Morton) - A1 - A638 Great North Road (Markham Moor, Rockley, Gamston, Eaton) - A638 London Road (Retford) and vice versa.

Arlington Way (Vehicles below 7.5wt) - A620 Amcott Way - A620 Hospital Road - A620 Babworth Road - Ordsall Road - West Hill Road - High Street - Goosemoor Lane - Whitehouses Road - London Road and vice versa

Spital Hill - Lidget Lane - A620 Moorgate and vice versa.

Grove Street (East Bound) - Market Place - Bridgegate - A620 Hospital Road - A620 Babworth Road - Ordsall Road - West Hill Road - High Street - Goosemoor Lane - Whitehouses Road - A638 London Road and vice versa

Grove Street (West Bound) - Grove Lane - Trent Street - Holly Road - London Road - Whitehouses Road - Goosemoor Lane - High Street - West Hill Road - Ordsall road - A620 Babworth Road - A620 Hospital Road - A620 Amcott Way and vice versa.

The Order will come into force on Monday 22nd April 2024 and any prohibition in it shall apply on that day and any subsequent day when necessary to enable works to be carried out. The Order shall continue in force until the works are completed (within a maximum period of 18 months).

The prohibition is required to enable Via East Midlands to carry out carriageway resurfacing works;
