What is happening?
EAST SUSSEX COUNTY COUNCIL
ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984
The East Sussex (C207 Poundfield Road, Chalvington) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2024
To allow South East Water to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;
Temporary Road Closure
Poundfield Road – from the junction with C331 Church Lane to One Acre Field.
A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via C207 Poundfield Road, Langtye Lane, The Street – A27(T) Lewes Road – C13 Ripe Lane, Firle Road, Mill Lane – C331 The Street, Church Lane and vice versa.
The Order commences 22 April 2024 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken on 22 and 23 April 2024, depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (U7420 Redgate Mill Lane, Eridge) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2023
To allow BT Openreach to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;
Temporary Road Closure
Redgate Mill Lane – from the junction with C12 Eridge Lane to the junction with U7420 Sandhill Lane.
A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via U7420 Sandhill Lane – A26 Eridge Road – C12 Sham Farm Road, Blackdon Hill and vice versa.
The Order commenced 25 October 2023 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken on 23 April 2024 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (C14 Tidebrook Road, Wadhurst/Mayfield) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2023
To allow BT Openreach to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;
Temporary Road Closure
Tidebrook Road – from the junction with C568 Lake Street to the junction with U7546 Riseden Road.
A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with a safe route for through traffic via C568 Lake Street – A267 Mayfield Road – B2100 Wadhurst Road, Best Beech Hill and vice versa.
The Order commenced 28 November 2023 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken on 24 April 2024 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (U5151 St John Street, Lewes) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2024
To allow SGN to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;
Temporary Road Closure
St John Street – from the junction with A2029 West Street to the junction with U5151 Lancaster Street.
A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via A2029 West Street, North Street – U5150 North Street – U5151 Lancaster Street.
The Order commences 23 April 2024 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 23 and 30 April 2024, depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (U7030 Brittenden Lane, Waldron) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2024
To allow BT Openreach to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;
Temporary Road Closure
Brittenden Lane – from the junction with U7031 Brittenden Lane to the junction with C13 Rosers Cross Lane.
A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via C13 Rosers Cross Lane – U7031 Brittenden Lane and vice versa.
The Order commences 7 May 2024 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 7 and 9 May 2024, depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (U7672 Graywood Road, East Hoathly) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2024
To allow Openreach to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;
Temporary Road Closure
Graywood Road – outside Belmont Farm and Business Centre. A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via U7672 Graywood Road – U7026 Holdcroft Lane – C13 Waldron Road and vice versa.
The Order commences 3 May 2024 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 3 and 7 May 2024 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (U5134 Hereward Way, Lewes) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2024
To allow Sunbelt Rentals to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;
Temporary Road Closure
Hereward Way – from the junction with U5134 Spences Lane to the junction with U5134 The Martlets.
A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via U5134 Hereward Way, Coombe Road, Spences Lane and vice versa.
The Order commences 7 May 2024 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 7 and 13 May 2024 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (U7671 Spinney Lane, Waldron) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2024
To allow Openreach to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;
Temporary Road Closure
Spinney Lane – from the junction with A267 Little London Road to the junction with U7671 Oakwood Lane.
A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via U7671 Spinney Lane – U7034 Spinney Lane – U7035 Hanging Birch Lane – U7671 Hanging Birch Lane, Bray Hill Lane – C208 Furnace Lane – A267 Little London Road and vice versa.
The Order commences 3 May 2024 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 3 and 7 May 2024 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (C114 Scrapers Hill, Chiddingly) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2024
To allow South East Water to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;
Temporary Road Closure
Scrapers Hill – from the junction with C114 Muddles Green to the junction with C114 Hale Green.
A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via C114 Muddles Green, Burgh Hill Road – A22 Golden Cross – C330 Nash Street, Thunders Hill, Gun Hill, Pick Hill – C114 Stonehill, Hale Green and vice versa.
The Order commences 7 May 2024 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 7 and 9 May 2024 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (A22 Hailsham Road/Polegate Road/Hailsham Bypass, Polegate/Hailsham)(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2024
To allow East Sussex Highways to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;
Temporary Road Closure
Hailsham Road/Polegate Road/Hailsham Bypass – from the junction with A27 Cop Hall roundabout to the junction with A22 Boship roundabout.
A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic northbound via A27(T) Eastbourne Road, Lewes Road, Eastbourne Road, Ranscombe Hill – A26 Southerham Road, Cuilfail Tunnel, Malling Street, Malling Hill, Malling Down, Uckfield Road, Rose Hill, Lewes Road – A22 Uckfield bypass, Eastbourne Road, East Hoathly bypass, South Street, Whitesmith, Holmes Hill, Golden Cross, The Dicker, and southbound via A22 The Dicker, Golden Cross, Holmes Hill, Whitesmith, South Street, East Hoathly bypass, Eastbourne Road, Uckfield bypass – A26 Lewes Road, Rose Hill, Uckfield Road, Malling Down, Malling Hill, Malling Street, Cuilfail Tunnel, Southerham Road – A27(T) Ranscombe Hill, Eastbourne Road, Lewes Road, Eastbourne Road.
The Order commences 22 April 2024 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken northbound from 20:00hrs to 06:00 between 22 and 27 April 2024 and southbound from 20:00hrs to 06:00 between 29 April and 4 May 2024, depending upon the weather conditions.

Restriction is anticipated to be in place between 7 May and 18 October 2024.
Chapel Lane – from the junction with B2096 Battle Road to the junction with C16 Marklye Lane.
Diversion via C16 Marklye Lane, Rushlake Green – C15 Middle Lane – B2096 Battle Road and vice versa.
Restriction is anticipated to be in place between 7 May and 18 October 2024.
Middle Lane – from the junction with B2096 Battle Road to the junction with C16 Rushlake Green.
Diversion via C16 Rushlake Green – C279 Rookery Lane – B2096 Earls Down, Battle Road and vice versa.
Restriction is anticipated to be in place between 7 May and 6 December 2024.
Goldings Lane – from the junction with C15 Middle Lane to Turners House.
Diversion via C279 Rookery Lane – B2096 Earls Down, Battle Road and vice versa.
Restriction is anticipated to be in place between 7 May and 6 December 2024.
School Hill – from the junction with C589 Old Heathfield Road to the junction with B2096 Cade Street.
Diversion via C589 Old Heathfield Road – B2096 Cade Street and vice versa.
Restriction is anticipated to be in place between 22 July and 9 September 2024.
Upper Greenwoods Lane – from the junction with U7916 Coldharbour Lane to the junction with B2096 Battle Road.
Diversion via U7598 North Street – B2096 Battle Road and vice versa.
Restriction is anticipated to be in place between 18 October 2024 and 7 July 2025.
Coldharbour Lane – from the junction with U7909 Upper Greenwoods Lane to the junction with B2096 Battle Road.
Diversion via U7909 Upper Greenwoods Lane – U7598 North Street – B2096 Battle Road and vice versa.
Restriction is anticipated to be in place between 18 October 2024 and 7 July 2025.
Flitterbrook Lane – from the junction with U7599 Bakery Lane to the junction with B2096 Battle Road.
Diversion via U7599 Bakery Lane – B2096 Battle Road and vice versa.
Restriction is anticipated to be in place between 18 October 2024 and 7 July 2025.
Halley Road – from the junction with A265 Burwash Road to the junction with B2096 Cade Street.
Diversion via A265 Burwash Road – B2096 Battle Road, Cade Street and vice versa.
Restriction is anticipated to be in place between 6 December 2024 and 30 January 2025.
Barley Mow Lane – from the junction with C16 Marklye Lane to the junction with B2096 Battle Road.
Diversion via C16 Marklye Lane, Chapel Lane – B2096 Battle Road and vice versa.
Restriction is anticipated to be in place between 18 December 2024 and 18 January 2025.
A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible.
The Order commences 7 May 2024 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken as detailed above depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (B2123 The Drove and Falmer village) (20mph and 30mph Speed Limit) Order 202*
NOTICE is hereby given that East Sussex County Council proposes to make an Order under Sections 82(2)(b) and 84 (1) and (2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (“the Act”), as amended, and of all other enabling powers, which introduces 20mph and 30 mph speed limits along the lengths of road described below;
