THE A585 TRUNK ROAD (AMOUNDERNESS WAY TO WINDY HARBOUR JUNCTION) (SPEED LIMITS) ORDER 2024
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that National Highways Limited (Company No. 09346363) intends to make the above-mentioned Order, under Sections 84(1)(a) and (2) and paragraph 27(1) of Schedule 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, on the A585 Trunk Road, in the Districts of Fylde and Wyre, in the County of Lancashire.
The effect of the Order, if made, would be to impose a combination of 40 miles per hour, 50 miles per hour and national speed limits on the A585 Trunk Road and side roads as specified in the Schedule to this notice. Those roads listed in Part 1 of the Schedule to this notice will be subject to a 40 miles per hour speed limit. Those roads listed in Part 2 of the Schedule to this notice will be subject to a 50 miles per hour speed limit. Those roads listed in Part 3 of the Schedule to this notice will be subject to the national speed limit.
This Order, if made, will revoke any and all other speed limit orders affecting the lengths of carriageway described above.
The speed limits will not apply to any vehicle being used for emergency purposes by the police, fire and rescue authority, or ambulance services, or to special-forces vehicles.
A copy of the Order and Notice, together with a Plan and a Statement of Reasons may be inspected during normal office hours by visiting the Kier Highways Main Compound, Garstang Road East, Poulton-le-Fylde, FY6 7SX; or by application to National Highways, Operations Division, Piccadilly Gate, Store Street, Manchester M1 2WD making reference to this notice.
Any person wishing to object to the Secretary of State’s proposal to make this Order should send a written statement of their objection and the grounds thereof to the Director, Operations Division, National Highways Limited, Piccadilly Gate, Store Street, Manchester M1 2WD, making reference to this Notice, to be received no later than Friday 10 May 2024, or within 3 weeks of the date of this publication, whichever is the latest.
When submitting an objection, it should be borne in mind that the substance of any objection may be communicated to other people affected by it.

THE SCHEDULE
PART 1 – Lengths of road proposed to be subject to a 40 miles per hour speed limit.
A length of the A585 between Amounderness Way and Skippool Bridge Junction –
• Eastbound carriageway from a point 300 metres west of its junction with the A588/ B5412 (Skippool Junction) along the new dual carriageway to a point 173 metres south-east of its junction with Mains Lane (Skippool Bridge Junction), a total distance of 926 metres.
• Westbound carriageway from a point 320 metres south-east of its junction with Mains Lane (Skippool Bridge Junction) along the new dual carriageway to a point 300 metres west of its junction with the A588/B5412 (Skippool Junction), a total distance of 1068 metres.
A length of the A588 Breck Road from its junction with A585 Amounderness Way (Skippool Junction) to a point 41 metres south of its junction with A585 Amounderness Way (Skippool Junction) a total distance of 41 metres.
A length of B5412 Skippool Road from its junction with A585 Amounderness Way (Skippool Junction) to a point 45 metres north its junction with A585 Amounderness Way (Skippool Junction) a total distance of 45 metres.
A length of A588 Mains Lane from its junction with the A585 Bypass (Skippool Bridge Junction) to a point 13 metres east its junction with A588 Shard Road a total distance of 616 metres.
PART 2 – Lengths of road proposed to be subject to a 50 miles per hour speed limit.
A length of the A585 from a point 297 metres west of its junction with A586 Garstang Road East (Poulton Junction), to a point 297 metres east of its junction with A586 Garstang Road East (Poulton Junction), a total distance of 594 metres.
A length of the A585 from a point 232 metres west of its junction with A585 Fleetwood Road (Windy Harbour Junction) to its junction with Fleetwood Road, for a total distance of 232 metres.
PART 3 – Lengths of road proposed to be subject to the national speed limit.
A length of A585 Amounderness Way from a point 250 metres east of its junction with B5268 Fleetwood Road South (Norcross Roundabout) to a point 300 metres west of junction with the A588/B5412 (Skippool Junction). A length of the A585 between Skippool Bridge
Junction and Poulton Junction –
• Eastbound carriageway from a point 173 metres south-east of its junction with A588 Mains Lane (Skippool Bridge Junction), eastbound along the new dual carriageway to a point 297 metres west of its junction with A586 Garstang Road East (Poulton Junction), a total distance of 1010 metres.
• Westbound carriageway from a point 297 metres west of its junction with A586 Garstang Road East (Poulton Junction) westbound along the new dual carriageway to a point 320 metres south-east of its junction with A588 Mains Lane (Skippool Bridge Junction), a total distance of 810 metres.
A length of the A585 between Poulton Junction and Windy Harbour Junction –
• Both directions from a point 297 metres east of its junction with A588 Garstang Road East (Poulton Junction) to a point 232 metres west of its junction with A585 Fleetwood Road (Windy Harbour Junction) a total distance of 2248 metres.
