What is happening?

LANCASHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL
(ST MARY'S STREET, PRESTON, PRESTON CITY)
(TEMPORARY SUSPENSION OF FOOTWAY) ORDER 2024

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Lancashire County Council have made an Order under Section 14(1) (a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit traffic on the roads set out in this notice.
1. No person shall cause any pedestrian to proceed over that length of footway on St Mary's Street, Preston from a point opposite its junction with Henrietta Street travelling in a north westerly direction for approximately 52 metres.
2. Nothing in this order shall apply to persons engaged in the carrying out of the works.
3. The prohibition will be operative from 0800 hours on 27th April 2024 until 1600 hours on 8th May 2024 or until completion of the works within this period.
4. The footway on the opposite side of the carriageway will be available for pedestrian usage.
The temporary prohibition is necessary to allow Construction Techniques Ltd to carry out repair works to the brick wall running along HMP Preston.
