What is happening?

LANCASHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL
(CASTLE STREET, CLITHEROE, RIBBLE VALLEY)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) (TEMPORARY SUSPENSION OF ONE-WAY TRAFFIC) ORDER 2024

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Lancashire County Council intend to make an Order under Section 14(1) (a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit traffic on the roads set out in this notice.
1. No person shall cause any motor vehicle to proceed over that length of Castle Street, Clitheroe from its junction with Parson Lane to its junction with King Street.
2. Nothing in this order shall apply to persons engaged in the carrying out of the works.
3. The prohibition will be operative from 0800 hours on Monday the 15th of April 2024 to 1700 hours on Wednesday the 31st of July 2024 or until completion of the works within this period.
4. An alternative route for vehicular traffic affected by the closure is via:-
Parson Lane – Station Road – King Street
And vice versa.
5. Residential, emergency, and business access will be maintained whenever and wherever possible.
AND FURTHER
1. The existing prohibition of one-way traffic on Castle Street, Clitheroe for its entire length from its junction with Parson Lane/Castle Gate and its junction with King Lane will be temporarily suspended.
The temporary prohibition is necessary to allow new paving and kerbing works to be carried out.
