What is happening?

LANCASHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL
(LANCASTER ROAD, PRESTON, PRESTON CITY) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) (TEMPORARY ONE WAY SUSPENSION)
(TEMPORARY RIGHT TURN ONLY) (TEMPORARY NO WAITING) ORDER 2024

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Lancashire County Council intend to make an Order under Section 14(1) (a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit traffic on the roads set out in this notice.
1. No person shall cause any motor vehicle to proceed over that length of Lancaster Road, Preston from its junction with Harris Street to its junction with Jacson Street.
2. To temporarily suspend the one way prohibition on Lancaster Road from its junction with Old Vicarage to Harris Street.
3. To temporarily implement a right turn only when travelling from the junction of Lord Street onto Lancaster Road.
4. No person shall cause any motor vehicle to wait at any time over that length of Lancaster Road from its junction with Lord Street for a distance of 65 metres in a northerly direction.
5. The prohibitions will be operative from 0800 hours on 29th April 2024
until 1600 hours on 10th May 2024 or until completion of the works within this period. Access will be maintained whenever and wherever possible.
6. An alternative route for vehicular traffic affected by the closure is via: -
Lancaster Road – Ormskirk Road – Ring Way – Queen Street
– Manchester Road – Church Street Birley Street – Jacson Street
AND FURTHER - Additional diversion signage will be in place to facilitate business deliveries.
The temporary prohibition is necessary to allow Conlon Construction Ltd to carry out essential works to the Harris Museum.
