What is happening?

CAMBRIDGESHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL

NOTICE is given that Cambridgeshire County Council intends after seven
days, to make an Order pursuant to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984,
as amended by the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991, the effect
of which:
Chesterton Road (A1303), Cambridge
(TEMPORARY SUSPENSION OF CYCLE LANE) ORDER 2024-552
Will be to temporarily suspend the cycle lane on Chesterton Road (A1303),
Cambridge as lies between George Street and Chesterton Hall Crescent.
During the period this Order remains in force The City of Cambridge Area A
(Consolidation) Order 1993, Schedule 23 Part 2 Mandatory with flow cycle
lanes, Chesterton Road on its north side from its junction with George Street
to its junction with Chesterton Hall Crescent is hereby suspended.
The proposed Order is necessary to facilitate relay lead supply and
associated works which are being carried out on or near the cycle lane
and it will come into operation on 8 May 2024 and continue until these
works have finished or on the 7 November 2025 whichever is the earlier.
This Order shall be in force when the signs are in place at each end of
the above section of road whilst works taking place on Chesterton Road
(A1303), Cambridge are in progress. It is anticipated that these works
will be carried out between 8 May and 10 May 2024.
Godwin Way, Cambridge
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2024-554
Is to stop any vehicle from proceeding along Godwin Way, Cambridge as lies
between number 91 and Spalding Way.
The alternative route for vehicles is via Gunhild Way – Tillyard Way – Spalding
Way – Godwin Way and vice versa.
The proposed Order is necessary to facilitate disconnection of water supply
and associated works which are being carried out on or near this highway
and it will come into operation on 1 May 2024 and continue until these
works have finished or on the 31 October 2025 whichever is the earlier.
It is anticipated that these works will be carried out between 1 May and
3 May 2024.
Orwell Road, Barrington
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2024-555
Is to stop any vehicle from proceeding along Orwell Road, Barrington as lies
between number 11 and Orwell Terrace.
The alternative route for vehicles is via Barrrington Road, Orwell – High
Street – Fishers Lane – A603 – Eversden Road, Harlton – High Street –
Haslingfield Road – Harlton Road, Haslingfield – Church Street – Chapel Hill
– Chapel Hill, Barrington – Haslingfield Road – High Street – West Green and
vice versa.
The proposed Order is necessary to facilitate water connection and
associated works which are being carried out on or near this highway
and it will come into operation on 20 May 2024 and continue until these
works have finished or on the 19 November 2025 whichever is the earlier.
It is anticipated that these works will be carried out between 20 May and
22 May 2024.
Station Road (C186), Swavesey
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2024-557
Is to stop any vehicle from proceeding along Station Road (C186), Swavesey
as lies between Swavesey Bridleway 21 and Middle Fen Drove.
The alternative route for vehicles is via High Street – Middle Watch –
Boxworth End – Ramper Road – Over Road (C191), Longstanton – Gravel
Bridge Road, Over – Longstanton Road – West Street – Glover Street –
Long Furlong – High Street – Church End – Station Road – Over Road,
Swavesey and vice versa.
The proposed Order is necessary to facilitate water disconnection and
associated works which are being carried out on or near this highway
and it will come into operation on 28 May 2024 and continue until these
works have finished or on the 27 November 2025 whichever is the earlier.
It is anticipated that these works will be carried out between 28 May and
30 May 2024.
Hills Road (A1307), Cambridge
(TEMPORARY SUSPENSION OF CYCLE LANE) ORDER 2024-558
Will be to temporarily suspend the cycle lane on Hills Road (A1307),
Cambridge as lies between Homerton Street and Purbeck Road.
During the period this Order remains in force The City of Cambridge Area G
(Consolidation) Order 1993, Schedule 23 – Part 2 Mandatory with flow cycle
lanes, Hills Road – On its west side from its junction with Long Road to a
point 38 metres north of its junction with Purbeck Road is hereby suspended.
During the period this Order remains in force The City of Cambridge Area G
(Consolidation) Order 1993 (Amendment No.2) Order 1994, Additions to
schedule 23 part 2 Mandatory with flow cycle lanes, Hills Road: on its west
side from a point 60 metres south of its centreline of Homerton Street for
a distance of 43 metres in a southerly direction is hereby suspended.
The proposed Order is necessary to facilitate fire hydrant repair and
associated works which are being carried out on or near the cycle lane and
it will come into operation on 28 May 2024 and continue until these works
have finished or on the 27 November 2025 whichever is the earlier.
This Order shall be in force when the signs are in place at each end of
the above section of road whilst works taking place on Hills Road (A1307),
Cambridge are in progress. It is anticipated that these works will be carried
out between 28 May 2024 and 30 May 2024.
Young Street, Cambridge
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2024-562
Is to stop any vehicle from proceeding along Young Street, Cambridge
as lies between number 40 and Sturton Street.
The proposed Order is necessary to facilitate telecommunications and
associated works which are being carried out on or near this highway and
it will come into operation on 11 May 2024 and continue until these works
have finished or on the 10 November 2025 whichever is the earlier. It is
anticipated that these works will be carried out between 09:30hrs and
15:30hrs 11 May 2024.
Fendon Road (A1307), Cambridge
(TEMPORARY SUSPENSION OF CYCLE LANE) ORDER 2024-565
Will be to temporarily suspend the cycle lane on Fendon Road (A1307),
Cambridge as lies between the A1134 and Hills Road (A1307).
During the period this Order remains in force The City of Cambridge Area F
(Consolidation) Order 1993, Schedule 23 Part 2 Mandatory with flow cycle
lanes, Fendon Road on both sides of the carriageway from a point 102
metres southwest of the centreline of Hills Road to its junction with Queen
Edith’s Way is hereby suspended.
The proposed Order is necessary to facilitate gas main replacement and
associated works which are being carried out on or near the cycle lane and
it will come into operation on 20 May 2024 and continue until these works
have finished or on the 19 November 2025 whichever is the earlier.
This Order shall be in force when the signs are in place at each end of the
above section of road whilst works taking place on Fendon Road (A1307),
Cambridge are in progress. It is anticipated that these works will be carried
out between 20 May and 9 August 2024.
Wulfstan Way, Cambridge
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2024-567
Is to stop any vehicle from proceeding along Wulfstan Way, Cambridge as
lies between Gunhild Way and Godwin Way.
The alternative route for vehicles is via Queen Edith Way – Cherry Hinton
Road – Wulfstan Way and vice versa.
The proposed Order is necessary to facilitate sewer, water connection and
associated works which are being carried out on or near this highway and
it will come into operation on 29 May 2024 and continue until these works
have finished or on the 28 November 2025 whichever is the earlier. It is
anticipated that these works will be carried out between 29 May and
5 June 2024.
North Road, Whittlesford
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2024-568
Is to stop any vehicle from proceeding along North Road, Whittlesford as lies
between High Street and Radegunds.
The alternative route for vehicles is via Middlemoor Road – Whippletree Road
– Hill Farm Road – A505 – Morefield Road – Duxford Road and vice versa.
The proposed Order is necessary to facilitate water connection and
associated works which are being carried out on or near this highway and it
will come into operation on 7 May 2024 and continue until these works have
finished or on the 6 November 2025 whichever is the earlier. It is anticipated
that these works will be carried out between 7 May and 9 May 2024.
Huntingdon Road (A1307), Girton and Huntingdon Road (A1307), Cambridge
(TEMPORARY SUSPENSION OF CYCLE LANE) ORDER 2024-569
Will be to temporarily suspend the cycle lane on Huntingdon Road (A1307),
Girton and Huntingdon Road (A1307), Cambridge as lies between Thornton
Road and Whitehouse Lane.
During the period this Order remains in force The City of Cambridge Area H
(Consolidation) Order 1993, Schedule 23: Part 2 Mandatory with flow cycle
lane, Huntingdon Road on the north eastern side from a point 40 metres
north west of its junction with Girton Road to a point 27m southeast of its
junction with Sherlock Road is hereby suspended.
The proposed Order is necessary to facilitate flexible bollards and
associated works which are being carried out on or near the cycle lane and
it will come into operation on 27 May 2024 and continue until these works
have finished or on the 26 November 2025 whichever is the earlier.
This Order shall be in force when the signs are in place at each end of the
above section of road whilst works taking place on Huntingdon Road
(A1307), Girton and Huntingdon Road (A1307), Cambridge are in progress.
It is anticipated that these works will be carried out between 09:30hrs and
15:30hrs 27 May to 31 May 2024.
Park Lane, Dry Drayton
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2024-571
Is to stop any vehicle from proceeding along Park Lane, Dry Drayton as lies
between Oakington Road and Madingley Road.
The alternative route for vehicles is via Madingley Road – Park Street (C193)
and vice versa.
The proposed Order is necessary to facilitate drainage, CCTV system and
associated works which are being carried out on or near this highway and it
will come into operation on 8 May 2024 and continue until these works have
finished or on the 7 November 2025 whichever is the earlier. It is anticipated
that these works will be carried out between 08:00hrs and 15:30hrs 8 May
to 10 May 2024.
Gog Magog Way, Stapleford
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2024-579
Is to stop any vehicle from proceeding along Gog Magog Way, Stapleford
as lies between Bar Lane and Chalk Hill.
The alternative route for vehicles is via Haverhill Road – Bury Road –
Bar Lane and vice versa.
The proposed Order is necessary to facilitate foul water connection
and associated works which are being carried out on or near this highway
and it will come into operation on 13 May 2024 and continue until these
works have finished or on the 12 November 2025 whichever is the earlier.
It is anticipated that these works will be carried out between 13 May
and 27 May 2024.
Suez Road and Hobart Road, Cambridge
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2024-580
Is to stop any vehicle from proceeding along Suez Road and Hobart Road,
Cambridge as lies between number 122 and St Martin’s Church.
The alternative route for vehicles is via Hobart Road – Coleridge Road –
Radegund Road and vice versa.
The proposed Order is necessary to facilitate water connection and
associated works which are being carried out on or near this highway and
it will come into operation on 13 May 2024 and continue until these works
have finished or on the 12 November 2025 whichever is the earlier.
It is anticipated that these works will be carried out between 13 May
and 17 May 2024.
St Johns Road, Cambridge
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2024-584
Is to stop any vehicle from proceeding along St Johns Road, Cambridge
as lies between Park Parade and New Park Street.
The alternative route for vehicles is via New Park Street – Portugal Street –
Park Parade and vice versa.
The proposed Order is necessary to facilitate gas connection and associated
works which are being carried out on or near this highway and it will come
into operation on 29 May 2024 and continue until these works have finished
or on the 28 November 2025 whichever is the earlier. It is anticipated that
these works will be carried out between 29 May and 30 May 2024.
Newton Road and Station Road, Harston
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2024-585
Is to stop any vehicle from proceeding along Newton Road and Station Road,
Harston as lies between points 20m either side of the railway level crossing
situated there as measured from its gates or barriers.
The alternative route for vehicles is via Station Road – A10 – B1368 –
Harston Road, Newton – Newton Road, Harston and vice versa.
The proposed Order is necessary to facilitate essential maintenance works
which are being carried out on or near this highway and it will come into
operation on 8 May 2024 and continue until these works have finished or
on the 7 November 2025 whichever is the earlier. It is anticipated that these
works will be carried out overnight between 00:01hrs to 04:30hrs 8 May to
10 May 2024.
Verulam Way, Cambridge
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2024-595
Is to stop any vehicle from proceeding along Verulam Way, Cambridge as lies
between Brackley Close and St Albans Road.
The alternative route for vehicles is via St Albans Road – Arbury Road –
Mere Way – Verulam Way and vice versa.
The proposed Order is necessary to facilitate sewer connection and
associated works which are being carried out on or near this highway
and it will come into operation on 27 May 2024 and continue until these
works have finished or on the 26 November 2025 whichever is the earlier.
It is anticipated that these works will be carried out between 27 May and
31 May 2024.
Cambridge Road, Milton
(TEMPORARY SUSPENSION OF CYCLE LANE) ORDER 2024-597
Will be to temporarily suspend the cycle lane on Cambridge Road, Milton
as lies between Coles Road and Edmund Close.
During the period this Order remains in force the Cambridgeshire County
Council (Cambridge Road, High Street and Ely Road, Milton) (Mandatory With-
Flow Cycle Lane) Order 2000, Length of roads or sides of road in the District
of South Cambridgeshire, Parish of Milton, Mandatory with-flow cycle lane;
Cambridge Road, Milton: West side from a point 35 metres north of its
junction with the roundabout serving the industrial estate, Tesco
Supermarket and Milton Country Park to a point 15 metres south-west of its
junction with Edmond Close, Direction: South to north is hereby suspended.
The proposed Order is necessary to facilitate telecommunications and
associated works which are being carried out on or near the cycle lane and
it will come into operation on 29 April 2024 and continue until these works
have finished or on the 28 October 2025 whichever is the earlier.
This Order shall be in force when the signs are in place at each end of the
above section of road whilst works taking place on Cambridge Road, Milton
are in progress. It is anticipated that these works will be carried out between
09:30hrs and 15:30hrs 29 April to 30 April 2024.
Main Street, Shudy Camps
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2024-606
Is to stop any vehicle from proceeding along Main Street, Shudy Camps
as lies between The Old Well Cottage and Jasmine Close.
The alternative route for vehicles is via Bartlow Road, Castle Camps –
Church Road – Church Road, Shudy Camps – Carsey Hill and vice versa.
The proposed Order is necessary to facilitate sewer connection and
associated works which are being carried out on or near this highway and it
will come into operation on 1 May 2024 and continue until these works have
finished or on the 31 October 2025 whichever is the earlier. It is anticipated
that these works will be carried out between 1 May and 14 May 2024.
Footpath from Sterne Close to Derby Road, Cambridge
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF USE) ORDER 2024-608
Is to stop any pedestrian from proceeding along Footpath from Sterne Close
to Derby Road, Cambridge as lies between Sterne Close and Derby Road.
The alternative route for pedestrians will be as signed.
The proposed Order is necessary to facilitate duct installation and
associated works which are being carried out on or near this highway
and it will come into operation on 29 April 2024 and continue until these
works have finished or on the 28 October 2024 whichever is the earlier.
It is anticipated that these works will be carried out between 29 April and
14 May 2024.
Hills Avenue, Cambridge
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2024-610
Is to stop any vehicle from proceeding along Hills Avenue, Cambridge as
lies between number 54 and Baldock Way.
The alternative route for vehicles is via Hills Avenue – Hinton Avenue –
Cavendish Avenue – Baldock Way and vice versa.
The proposed Order is necessary to facilitate storm water drainage
and associated works which are being carried out on or near this highway
and it will come into operation on 13 May 2024 and continue until these
works have finished or on the 14 November 2025 whichever is the earlier.
It is anticipated that these works will be carried out between 13 May and
22 May 2024.
Sidgwick Avenue and Grange Road, Cambridge
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2024-612
Is to stop any vehicle from proceeding along Sidgwick Avenue and Grange
Road, Cambridge as lies between Clough Hall and Grange Road; Pinehurst
and Peile Hall respectively.
The alternative route for vehicles is via Grange Road – West Road – A1134
and vice versa.
The proposed Order is necessary to facilitate valve repair and associated
works which are being carried out on or near this highway and it will come
into operation on 28 May 2024 and continue until these works have finished
or on the 27 November 2025 whichever is the earlier. It is anticipated that
these works will be carried out between 28 May and 31 May 2024.
High Street (C233), Cambridge
(TEMPORARY SUSPENSION OF CYCLE LANE AND PARKING BAYS)
ORDER 2024-613
Will be to temporarily suspend the cycle lane and parking bays on
High Street (C233), Cambridge as lies between Chelwood Road and
Chequers Close.
During the period this Order remains in force The City of Cambridge Area E
(Consolidation) Order 1993, Schedule 23: Part 3: Mandatory cycle lane in
which loading is permitted High Street Cherry Hinton: On its west side from
a point 28 metres north of the centreline of Mill End Road to a point 14
metres south of the centreline of Colville Road. High Street Cherry Hinton:
On its east side from a point 28 metres north of the centreline to a point
21 metres south of the centreline of Colville Road. High Street Cherry Hinton
on its west side from a point 17 metres north of its junction with Colville
Road to a point 20m south of the centreline of Chelwood Road. High Street
Cherry Hinton on its east side from a point 16 metres north of its junction
with Colville Road to a point 20m south of the centreline of Chelwood Road
is hereby suspended.
The proposed Order is necessary to facilitate electrical connection and
associated works which are being carried out on or near the cycle lane and
it will come into operation on 25 May 2024 and continue until these works
have finished or on the 24 November 2025 whichever is the earlier.
This Order shall be in force when the signs are in place at each end of the
above section of road whilst works taking place on High Street (C233),
Cambridge are in progress. It is anticipated that these works will be carried
out between 25 May and 2 June 2024.
Parker Street, Cambridge
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2024-614
Is to stop any vehicle from proceeding along Parker Street, Cambridge as
lies between Clarendon Street and Emmanuel Road.
The alternative route for vehicles is via Emmanuel Road – Short Street –
Four Lamps Roundabout – Maids Causeway – Newmarket Road (C291) –
A1134 – A603 – Parkside.
The proposed Order is necessary to facilitate water disconnection and
associated works which are being carried out on or near this highway and
it will come into operation on 12 May 2024 and continue until these works
have finished or on the 11 November 2025 whichever is the earlier. It is
anticipated that these works will be carried out between 08:00hrs and
17:00hrs 12 May 2024; 08:00hrs and 17:00hrs 18 May 2024.
Market Street, Cambridge
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2024-617
Is to stop any vehicle from proceeding along Market Street, Cambridge as
lies between Market Hill and Sidney Street.
The proposed Order is necessary to facilitate window replacement and
associated works which are being carried out on or near this highway and
it will come into operation on 17 May 2024 and continue until these works
have finished or on the 16 November 2025 whichever is the earlier. It is
anticipated that these works will be carried out between 05:00hrs and
08:00hrs 17 May 2024.
Norwich Street, Cambridge
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2024-623
Is to stop any vehicle from proceeding along Norwich Street, Cambridge
as lies between Panton Street and Francis Passage.
The alternative route for vehicles is via Panton Street – Union Road –
A1307 – Bateman Street – Francis Passage.
The proposed Order is necessary to facilitate telecommunications and
associated works which are being carried out on or near this highway and
it will come into operation on 28 May 2024 and continue until these works
have finished or on the 27 November 2025 whichever is the earlier. It is
anticipated that these works will be carried out between 09:30hrs and
15:30hrs 28 May 2024.
Maids Causeway and James Street, Cambridge
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2024-624
Is to stop any vehicle from proceeding along Maids Causeway and
James Street, Cambridge as lies between Fitzroy Lane and Parsonage Street;
Number 41 and Maids Causeway respectively.
The alternative route for vehicles is via Fitzroy Lane – Maids Causeway
and vice versa.
The proposed Order is necessary to facilitate gas cover replacement
and associated works which are being carried out on or near this highway
and it will come into operation on 13 May 2024 and continue until these
works have finished or on the 12 November 2025 whichever is the earlier.
It is anticipated that these works will be carried out between 13 May
and 23 May 2024.
