York, Stockton On The Forest, Copmanthorpe and Acomb - Temporary Traffic Restrictions
What is happening?
TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS
Notice is hereby given that City of York Council (the Council), in exercise of powers under Sections 14(1) & 15(8) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (the Act), made an order on the 11th day of April 2024 in respect of the locations numbered (1), (2), (3), (4), (5) & (6). Furthermore, the Council, not less than 7 days from the publication of this Notice, intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Act in respect of the locations numbered (7), (8), (9), (10) & (11).
(1) PICCADILLY & COPPERGATE, YORK
This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Piccadilly, York between its junction with Pavement and a location 125 metres south-east of said junction (closed road) during the period when highway maintenance works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0600hrs on Sunday, 14 April 2024 and ending at 0600hrs on Monday, 15 April 2024 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. Additionally, the ‘ONE WAY’ direction of traffic flow in Coppergate will be suspended during the period of physical closure to allow two-way traffic flow in the said road and the cycleway on the northern side of Coppergate will be suspended for the works period only. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Piccadilly, Fishergate, Tower Street, Clifford Street, Coppergate.
(2) AINSTY AVENUE, YORK
This Order prohibits vehicles & pedestrians from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Ainsty Avenue, York between the projected north-eastern boundaries of property No's 23 and 42 (closed road) during the period when highway resurfacing works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0900hrs on Monday, 15 April 2024 and ending at 1800hrs on Tuesday, 16 April 2024 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Ainsty Grove, Tadcaster Road, Mayfield Grove.
(3) NEWGATE & KINGS COURT, YORK
This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Newgate & Kings Court, York between its junctions with Patrick Pool and Shambles (closed road) during the period when building maintenance works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0800hrs on Monday, 15 April 2024 and ending at 0800hrs on Monday, 27 May 2024 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Silver Street, Church Street, Colliergate, Pavement.
(4) FOSSGATE, YORK
This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Fossgate, York between its junctions with Lady Pecketts Yard and Pavement (closed road) during the period when gas mains works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0900hrs on Monday, 15 April 2024 and ending at 1700hrs on Tuesday, 16 April 2024 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. Additionally, the 'ONE WAT direction of traffic flow in Fossgate is suspended during the period of physical closure to allow two-way traffic flow in the said road. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Walmgate, St Denys Road, Piccadilly, Pavement.
(5) WHIP-MA-WHOP-MA-GATE, YORK
This Order prohibits pedestrians from proceeding and waiting in that length of footway on the south-western side of Whip-Ma-Whop-Ma-Gate, York between its junction with the eastern entrance to Footpath Whip-Ma-Whop-Ma-Gate From Shambles To Colliergate and a location 16 metres south-east of said junction (closed footway) during the period when CCTV maintenance works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 2359hrs on Thursday, 18 April 2024 and ending at 0400hrs on Friday, 19 April 2024 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted pedestrians will be signed during the works period via Colliergate, Pavement.
(6) BARR LANE, STOCKTON ON THE FOREST
This Order prohibits vehicles & pedestrians from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Barr Lane, Stockton On The Forest between its junctions Malton Road (A64) and Sandy Lane (closed road) during the period when highway lining works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 2100hrs on Thursday, 18 April 2024 and ending at 0500hrs on Friday, 19 April 2024 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Sandy Lane, Hopgrove Lane South, A1237, Malton Road (A64).
(7) QUEEN STREET & STATION ROAD, YORK
This Order will prohibit vehicles & pedestrians from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Queen Street & Station Road, York (i) on Queen Street between the projected south-eastern boundary of property No. 11 and its junction with Station Road and (ii) on Station Road between its junction with Queen Street and a location 17 metres north-east of said junction (closed roads) during the period when York Station Gateway works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 2000hrs on Friday, 19 April 2024 and ending at 0600hrs on Monday, 29 April 2024 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the roads will only be closed between 2000hrs on Friday night and 0600hrs on Monday morning each weekend during the works period only. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via York Inner Ring Road. Pedestrian and cycle diversions will also be put in place.
(8) BARKER LANE, YORK
This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Barker Lane, York between its junctions with Toft Green and Micklegate (closed road) during the period when telecoms works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 1030hrs on Monday, 22 April 2024 and ending at 1630hrs on Monday, 22 April 2024 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Toft Green, Bar Lane, Tanner Row, George Hudson Street, Micklegate.
(9) LINK ROAD, ACOMB
This Order will prohibit pedestrians from proceeding and waiting in that length of footway on the eastern side of Link Road, Acomb between its junctions with York Road and Front Street (closed footway) during the period when telecoms works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0800hrs on Monday, 22 April 2024 and ending at 1630hrs on Monday, 22 April 2024 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted pedestrians will be signed during the works period via York Road, Front Street.
(10) QUEEN STREET & STATION ROAD, YORK
This Order will prohibit vehicles & pedestrians from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Queen Street & Station Road, York (i) on Queen Street between the projected south-eastern boundary of property No. 11 and its junction with Station Road and (ii) on Station Road between its junction with Queen Street and a location 17 metres north-east of said junction (closed roads) during the period when York Station Gateway works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0600hrs on Monday, 22 April 2024 and ending at 1700hrs on Monday, 11 November 2024 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles and pedestrians will be signed during the works period via land adjacent to Queen Street and Station Road.
(11) PUBLIC FOOTPATH NO 1/2/20, COPMANTHORPE
This Order will prohibit vehicles & pedestrians from proceeding and waiting in that length of public right of way on Public Footpath No 1/2/20, Copmanthorpe between its junctions with Fletcher's Croft and Ploughmans Close and a location approximately 15 metres east of the East Coast Mainline Railway (closed public right of way) during the period when railway maintenance works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 2200hrs on Friday, 26 April 2024 and ending at 0600hrs on Saturday, 04 May 2024 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the public right of way will only be closed between 2200hrs and 0600hrs each night during the works period. An alternative route for diverted vehicles and pedestrians will not be signed during the works period.
The above temporary Orders will not prohibit works or emergency access nor will they prohibit access to premises provided that access is not prevented by on-going works or safety concerns. Traffic signs/barriers will indicate the extent of the prohibitions/restrictions.
