What is happening?

THE CITY OF SUNDERLAND
(CLOSURE OF BRIDGE CRESCENT SUNDERLAND)
TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2024

Sunderland City Council gives notice that it intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit all vehicles along Bridge Crescent, Sunderland, from its junction with West Wear Street to its junction with Panns Bank. The Order is required to locate welfare facilities and facilitate repair works to Echo 24 Building, which are to be executed on or near the road. The Order will come into operation on 9th May 2024. The maximum duration of the closure under the Order will be 18 months, however it is estimated that the closure will be in operation for approximately 8 weeks from commencement of the works. All vehicles will be prohibited from the above road (except vehicles involved in the works and emergency service vehicles attending an emergency call) until the works are completed or at such times and to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the display of traffic signs. Alternative routes will be provided via the adjacent highway network.
