A417 And A419 Trunk Roads - Prohibition Of Traffic For Carriageway Works
What is happening?
ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 - SECTION 14(1)(a)
THE A417 AND A419 TRUNK ROADS (BROCKWORTH TO CIRENCESTER)
(TEMPORARY RESTRICTION AND PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2024
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that National Highways Limited (a) has made an Order on the A417 and A419 trunk road in the County of Gloucestershire to allow dual carriageway works to be carried out in safety.
The works are expected to take place commencing on or after 15 April 2024 and be completed by 28 February 2027.
The effect of the Order will be to:
(a) impose a mandatory 40 miles per hour speed limit on the A417 between 1325 metres south of Beech Pike Junction and Shurdington Road Junction.
(b) authorise the overnight (21.00 to 06.00) and weekend (23.00 Friday to 06.00 Monday) closure of the:
(i) A417 northbound from Burford Road Junction to Air Balloon Roundabout;
(ii) A417 southbound from Air Balloon Roundabout to Beech Pike Junction;
(iii) A417 northbound and southbound between Shurdington Road Junction and Air Balloon Roundabout;
(iv) the northbound entry slip roads at Burford Road Junction Daglingworth Quarry Junction, Crabtree Lane Junction, Notch Road Junction, Beech Pike Junction and Birdlip Junction;
(c) authorise the operation of contraflows between:
(i) 550 metres south of Shurdington Road Junction and 3950 metres south of Shurdington Road Junction;
(ii) 2300 metres north of Beech Pike Junction and 3423 metres north of Beech Pike Junction;
(iii) Crowley Roundabout and 700 metres south of Crowley Roundabout
(d) prohibit vehicles over 7.5 tonnes from the outside lane of the A417 between 1325 metres south of Beech Pike Junction and Shurdington Road Junction;
(e) prohibit overtaking on the A417 between Birdlip Junction and the junction with Cowley Lane leading to Stockwell
(f) authorise the closure of the A417 laybys between Burford Road Junction and Shurdington Road Junction;
(g) authorise the closure of the bus stop on the A417 northbound 300 metres north of Beech Pike Junction;
(h) prohibit cyclists from the A417 between Beech Pike Junction and Shurdington Road Junction;
(i) prohibit turning right into or out of:
(i) Ermine Way at Cowley Roundabout;
(ii) Cowley Lane leading to Stockwell,
(iii) the local road leading to Cold Slad,
(iv) the local road leading to Grove Farm
During the closures, traffic will be diverted via junctions of the A417 and local roads.
Access to and from premises that are accessible from and only from the A417 will be maintained during the works.
The closures (which will not apply to emergency service, traffic officer or works vehicles) speed limits, contraflows, overtaking ban, and diversion routes will be clearly indicated by traffic signs throughout the works.
The Order will come into force on 13 April 2024.
