Shakespeare Street And High Bridge - Temporary Road Restrictions For Works

What is happening?

CITY OF NEWCASTLE UPON TYNE
(SHAKESPEARE STREET AND HIGH BRIDGE) TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2024

1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on 8 April 2024 the Council of the City of Newcastle upon Tyne made an Order under Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit all vehicles from proceeding on -

(i) Shakespeare Street from Pilgrim Street, westwards, for 15 metres, and

(ii) High Bridge from 15 metres west of its junction with Pilgrim Street, eastwards, to Pilgrim Street.

2. The existing one-way eastwards restriction on High Bridge between Grey Street and Pilgrim Street will be suspended as required.

3. The existing one-way westwards restriction on Shakespeare Street between Pilgrim Street and Grey Street will be suspended as required.

4. The alternative route for vehicles will be signed on site as required.

5. The Order is required to allow works to be carried out on or near the highway.

6. Exemptions will be provided for vehicles engaged in the works.

7. The Order will come into operation on 17 April 2024 and will continue, as and when the relevant traffic signs are displayed, for 3 months or until the proposed works are completed, whichever is the earlier.
