What is happening?

LANCASHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL
REAR 124–172 SMITH STREET, REAR 127 TO 155 PINE STREET AND REAR 68-94 PINE STREET, NELSON, PENDLE BOROUGH
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2024

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Lancashire County Council has made an Order under Section 14(1) (a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit traffic on the roads set out in this notice.
1. No person shall cause any motor vehicle to proceed over that length of
i. Rear 124 – 172 Smith Street, Nelson from its junction with Hallam Road to its junction with Earl Street.
ii. Rear 127 to 155 Pine Street, Nelson from its junction with Earl Street to its junction with Gable End 96 Smith Street to Gable End 127 Pine Street.
iii. Rear 68-94 Pine Street, Nelson from its junction with Woodland Road to its junction with Rear 75-85 Barker Street.
2. Nothing in this order shall apply to persons engaged in the carrying out of the works.
3. The prohibitions will be operative on the dates and times specified below;
i. Rear 124 – 172 Smith Street, Nelson from 0800 hours on Monday 22nd April 2024 until 1800 hours on Friday 10th May 2024.
ii. Rear 127 to 155 Pine Street, Nelson from 0800 hours on Tuesday 7th May until 1800 hours on Wednesday 22nd May 2024.
iii. Rear 68-94 Pine Street, Nelson from 0800 hours on Monday 20th May 2024 until 1800 hours on Friday 7th June 2024.
4. A diversion will be signed locally.
The temporary prohibition is necessary to allow the replacement of steel services to upgrade the gas network to be carried out.
