What is happening?

Various Roads, Temporary Traffic Restrictions (Glastonbury Festival) Order 2024

Somerset Council in exercise of its powers under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, intends to make an Order, the effect of which will be to introduce temporary traffic restrictions as specified below.

• Temporary one-way traffic (Schedule 1)
• Temporary prohibition of driving (Schedule 2)
• Temporary prohibition of waiting and stopping of vehicles (Schedule 3)
• Temporary permission for vehicles to pass in either direction (Schedule 4)
• Temporary suspension of 7.5 tonne weight limit (Schedule 5)
• Temporary 30 mph speed restrictions and Temporary 20 mph speed restrictions and 20 mph Zone (Schedule 6)
• Temporary suspension of right turns (Schedule 7)
• Temporary closure of Footpaths, Bridleways and Restricted Byways (Schedule 8)

The Order will be made to facilitate the Glastonbury Festival 2024 and is in the interest of public safety. This Order shall come into operation on Monday 29th April 2024 and will continue in force for 18 months. All restrictions will be signed and staffed (where required) and will remain in force only for as long as is necessary. Exemptions are provided in the Order for emergency vehicles and vehicles displaying a valid exemption permit or pass issued by Glastonbury Festivals Ltd or Somerset Council or any agent acting on their behalf.
