Iveston Bends, Temporary Road Closure Due To Resurfacing Works
What is happening?
The County Council of Durham (A691 Iveston Bends, Consett) (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2024
The Council proposes to make an Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, Section 14(1) to prohibit all vehicular traffic from proceeding on a 1.56-kilometre length of A691 between its junctions with Stockerley Lane and the access to Leadgate Industrial Estate, Iveston Bends, Consett to enable carriageway resurfacing works to be undertaken.
An alternative route will be available to traffic from the south eastern side of the closure from A691 at Lanchester north via A6076 to Annfield Plain then westerly on A693 to the junction with A692 then south westerly on A692 to the roundabout junction with A691 to the north western side of the closure, and vice versa.
Local diversions will also be signed via Stockerley Lane and Iveston Lane, and Lunds Lane and Iveston Lane. The maximum duration of the Order is 18 months. The proposed works are to commence on 27.4.24 and are required between 7pm and 6am and are anticipated to be completed in 7 days. On occasions, alternative dates for closure may be necessary and these will be signed on site accordingly.
