What is happening?

The Portsmouth City Council (Various Roads) (Bus Gates and Bus Lanes) Order 2024


1. Portsmouth City Council hereby gives Notice that on the 10 April 2024, it made the above Order under Section1, 2 & 4 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The Order will come into effect on 12 April 2024.
2. The effect of the Order is to reproduce and continue in force indefinitely the provisions of The Portsmouth City Council (Various Roads) (Bus Gates and Bus Lanes), (No.184) Experimental Order 2022, which permits private hire vehicles registered by Portsmouth City Council to travel in:
a. The bus gates in Bishop Crispian Way, Cavell Drive and Kingston Crescent Access Road; and
b. The bus lanes in Kingston Crescent Access Road (south-westbound between its junction with Kingston Crescent and the entrance to the car park south of the Admiral Drake PH) , Marketway (westbound between Landport View and St Agatha's Church), Mile End Road (southbound between Rudmore Roundabout and a point 70 metres north of its junction with Havisham Road), and Queen Street (eastbound from 50 metres east of York Place to the vehicular entrance to HMS Nelson, eastbound offside bus lane from the vehicular exit to HMS Nelson to Anglesea Road).
3. Copies of the made Order, Statement of Reasons and plan showing the restrictions are available to view on Portsmouth City Council’s website: Search 'Traffic Regulation Orders 2024' at www.portsmouth.gov.uk. Alternatively, they can be viewed at the Civic Offices, Guildhall Square, PO1 2AL, Monday to Friday between 9am - 4pm. Printed copies can be obtained by calling 023 9268 8501.
4. If any person wishes to question the validity of the Order or of any of its provisions on the grounds that it or they are not within the powers conferred by the 1984 Act, or that any requirement of the Act or of any instrument made under the Act has not been complied with, that person may, within 6 weeks from the date on which the Order is made, apply for the purpose to the High Court.
