What is happening?
Highways
Kent County Council, acting in exercise of its powers under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, makes or intends to make the following Orders.
CANTERBURY AREA
A299 Thanet Way, Herne & Broomfield - Westbound On Slip. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER APRIL 2024
To allow Section 278 works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on the A299 Thanet Way, Herne & Broomfield, westbound on slip, on or after 29th April 2024, for up to 13 days, between the hours of 20.00 and 06.00, week day nights only, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed for the entire length, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
These works are in conjunction with a lane closure on the A291 Canterbury Road Roundabout.
The alternative route is via A291 Canterbury Road, A299 Thanet Way, Sweechbridge Road, Maystreet, Heart In Hand Road and A299 Thanet Way.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Coldharbour Lane, Bridge, CT4 5HH (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER APRIL 2024
To allow repair works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Coldharbour Lane, Bridge, on or after 15th April 2024, for up to 5 days, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in the vicinity of Coldharbour Cottages, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route is via Coldharbour Lane, Bonny Bush Hill, Bridge Hill, High Street, Town Hill, Bekesbourne Road, Bifrons Hill, Station Road, School Lane, Chalkpit Hill, Adisham Road, Bramling Road, Poor Start Lane, Coldharbour Lane and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Duckpit Road, Waltham, CT4 5QA (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER MAY 2024
To allow pole testing works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Duckpit Road, Waltham, on or after 2nd May 2024, for up to one day, between the hours of 09.30 and 15.30, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed from the junction with The Gogway, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route is via Duckpit Road, Church Lane, Kake Street, Waltham Road, Broadway, Duckpit Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Glen Iris Close, Canterbury, CT2 8HR (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER APRIL 2024
To allow maintenance works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Glen Iris Close, Canterbury, on or after 15th April 2024, for up to 5 days, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in the vicinity of number 1, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
There is no alternative route for this closure, however, residential and emergency access will be maintained at all times when it is safe to do so.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Gravel Castle Road, Barham, CT4 6LG (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING & TEMPORARY ONE-WAY SUSPENSION) TEMPORARY ORDER APRIL 2024
To allow replacement works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Gravel Castle Road, Barham, on or after 16th April 2024, with estimated completion by 17th April 2024, between the hours of 09.30 and 15.30, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in the vicinity of The Oast House, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The One-Way Order on Gravel Castle Road will be suspended for the duration of the works, between the junctions with Church Lane and Brickfield Road.
The alternative route for vehicles under 7.5 tonne is via Church Lane, The Street, Valley Road, Old Valley Road, Brickfield Road and vice versa.
The alternative route for vehicles over 7.5 tonne is via Gravel Castle Road, A260 Old Dover Road, A2 Dover Road, Bonny Bush Slip Westbound Off, Bonny Bush Hill, Black Robin Lane, Valley Road and Derringstone Hill.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Highgate Road, The Heath & Becket Close, Whitstable. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER APRIL 2024
To allow footway reconstruction works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on Highgate Road, The Heath & Becket Close, Whitstable, on or after 15th April 2024, with estimated completion by 4th August 2024, Monday to Saturday, between the hours of 08.00 and 17.00, or until the works have been completed.
Highgate Road will be closed in its entirety, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Highgate Road, Fletcher Road and vice versa.
The Heath will be closed in its entirety, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
There is no alternative route for this closure, however, residential and emergency access will be maintained all times when it is safe to do so.
Becket Close will be closed in its entirety, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

Lambkin Wall, Wickhambreaux, CT3 4BB (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER APRIL 2024
To allow renewal works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Lambkin Wall, Wickhambreaux, on or after 15th April 2024, for up to 5 days, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed from the junction of Stodmarsh Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route is via Stodmarsh Road.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Orchard Close, Canterbury, CT2 7AL (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER APRIL 2024
To allow maintenance works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Orchard Close, Canterbury, on or after 17th April 2024, for up to 8 days, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in the vicinity of number 36, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
There is no alternative route for this closure, however, residential and emergency access will be maintained at all times when it is safe to do so.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Pond Cottages, Herne. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER APRIL 2024
To allow utility works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Pond Cottages, Herne, on or after 15th April 2024, for up to 5 days, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed outside the Huntsman and Horn, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route is via Pond Cottages, Margate Road, Broomfield Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
South Street, Whitstable, CT5 3EJ (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER APRIL 2024
To allow new electrical connection works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of South Street, Whitstable, on or after 30th April 2024, for up to 15 days, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed from the junction with Millstrood Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route is via Millstrood Road, A2990 Thanet Way, Clover Rise, Grasmere Road, Virginia Road, South Street and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
St Lawrence Forstal, Canterbury, CT1 3PD (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER APRIL 2024
To allow installation works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on St Lawrence Forstal, Canterbury, on or after 15th April 2024, for up to 12 days, between the hours of 08.00 and 18.00, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed for the entire length, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
There is no alternative route for this closure, however, residential and emergency access will be maintained at all times when it is safe to do so.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Station Road, Chartham, CT4 7HU (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER APRIL 2024
To allow level crossing works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Station Road, Chartham, from 23.45 hours on 29th April 2024, with estimated completion by 05.00 hours on 30th April 2024, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in the vicinity of the level crossing, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route is via Station Road, A28 Ashford Road, Shalmsford Street, Bolts Hill, Parish Road, The Green and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
The Avenue, Hersden, CT3 4HL (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER APRIL 2024
To allow renewal works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of The Avenue, Hersden, on or after 15th April 2024, for up to 5 days, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in the vicinity of number 7, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route is via The Avenue, East View, A28 Island Road, The Sycamores and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Vale Road, Whitstable, CT5 4HT (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER APRIL 2024
To allow installation works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Vale Road, Whitstable, on or after 15th April 2024, for up to 12 days, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in the vicinity of Tralee, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
There is no alternative route for this closure, however, residential and emergency access will be maintained at all times when it is safe to do so.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
