Traffic Order Proposals - 40 And 50 Miles Per Hour Speed Limit On Various Roads, Alresford

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Hampshire County Council ("the Council") proposes to make the above-mentioned Order, in exercise of its powers and duties under Section 84 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 ("the Act), Part IV of Schedule 9 to the Act and of all other enabling powers, after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 to the Act and having discharged its duty under section 122 of the Act.

GENERAL NATURE AND EFFECTS OF THE ORDER : will be to impose 40 and 50 miles per hour speed limits at Alresford as follows:

(i) Link road no.3 (currently unnamed) - between its junction with Whitehill Lane and a point 12 metres north thereof.

(ii) Whitehill Lane - between a point 64 metres west of its junction with Appledown Lane and its junction with the B3047 Bishops Sutton Road, an approximate distance of 1330 metres.

(i) A31 Alresford Road between a point 170 metres west of its roundabout junction with the unnamed link road no. 1 and a point 337 metres east of that point (including the roundabout gyratory).

(ii) Link road no.1 (currently unnamed) between its junction with the A31 Alresford Road roundabout and a point 43 metres north thereof.

(i) Winchester City Council, Colebrook Street, Winchester, SO23 9LJ (Opening hours: Monday - Thursday 08.30 - 17.00; Friday: 08.30 - 16.30)

(ii) Alresford Library, 20 Broad Street, New Alresford, SO24 9AQ (opening hours: Tuesday & Friday: 13.00 - 17.00; Thursday & Saturday: 09.30 - 13.30)

(iii) Hampshire County Council Headquarters, The Castle, Winchester, SO23 8UD (Opening hours : Mondays to Thursdays 8.30 - 5.15; Fridays 8.30 - 4.45)

(iv) Copies of the draft order, plan(s) and statement of reasons can also be obtained by e-mailing public.notices@hants.gov.uk or by writing to Traffic Orders Team, Safer Roads and Parking, Universal Services, The Castle, Winchester SO23 8UD quoting reference :

OBJECTIONS AND OTHER REPRESENTATIONS: All objections/other representations in respect of this proposal must be made in writing to Universal Services, The Castle, Winchester, SO23 8UD or email public.notices@hants.

gov.uk quoting reference:- DL/C857, by 27th April 2024. All objections must state the grounds on which they are made. Under the requirements of current access to information legislation, any statement you make to the Council in response to this Notice may be made available to the press and to the public, who would be entitled to take copies of it if they so wished.

TITLE: The order, if made, will be known as "The Hampshire (Various Roads, Alresford) (40 and 50 Miles Per Hour Speed Limit) Order 2024."
