Witton Park Rail Bridge, Temporary Road Closure Due To Bridge Repair Works

What is happening?

The County Council of Durham (C93 Witton Park Rail Bridge, Witton Park) (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2024

The Council proposes to make an Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1984 as amended, Section 14 (1) to prohibit all vehicular traffic from proceeding on a 1300 metre length of road C93 between its junction with Paradise Lane at Witton Park to its junction with the road leading to Low Wadsworth Sewage Works south of Beechburn Bridge, High Grange. Pedestrian access will be afforded between Witton Park and Public Footpath No 120 Bishop Auckland Parish, south of the rail bridge during the closure periods to enable rail bridge repair works to be undertaken.

An alternative route will be available to vehicular traffic from the southern side of the closure south westerly on Park Road, Witton Park then west on Sloshes Lane, north on A68 then easterly through Witton le War to Low Lane to the junction with C93 at Beechburn Bridge to the northern side of the closure, and vice versa.

The maximum duration of the Order is 18 months. The proposed works are required between 9.30 am and 3.30 pm from Monday 22 April 2024 and for the duration of the works anticipated to be 14 working days no works on weekends or Bank Holidays. On occasions, alternative dates for closure may be necessary and these will be signed accordingly.
