Maryport, Multiple Roads, Temporary Traffic Restrictions Due To Utility Works

What is happening?

Cumberland Council (Various Roads In Maryport) (Temporary Traffic Regulation) Order 2024

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable utility works to be carried out ("the Works"), Cumberland Council intends to make an Order the effect of which is to:

1. Prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along the lengths of road specified in Schedule 1.

2. Prohibit any vehicle from proceeding other than in a south easterly direction along the lengths of road specified in Schedule 2.

Suitable diversion routes will be indicated on site by the display of relevant traffic signs as and when the temporary closures are in force.

A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times.

The Order will come into operation on 22 April 2024 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required as stated in schedule I and 2 and only as and when the relevant traffic signs are displayed.

SCHEDULE 1

EXTENT OF ROAD CLOSURES AND ALTERNATIVE ROUTES

1. Mealpot Road and Station Street, Maryport - From 22 April 2024 for approx. 3 weeks (Ref: TTROC/10342)

(i) Mealpot Road, Maryport from its junction with Station Street to its junction with the A596; and

(ii) Station Street, Maryport from its junction with Mealpot Road to its junction with Selby Terrace. Alternative Route: via the A596, A594 Ellenborough Road and the unrestricted section of Mealpot Road.

2. John Street, Maryport - From 6 May 2024 for approx. 5 weeks (Ref: TTROC/10343) From its junction with High Street to its junction with the A596

Alternative Route: via the A596, Wood Street and High Street.

3. Wood Street and Brow Street, Maryport - From 10 June 2024 for approx. 5 weeks (Ref: TTROC/10345)

(i) Wood Street, Maryport from its junction with the A596 to a point where it meets/joins Brow Street.

Alternative Routes:

North West Bound Vehicles: via the A596, Senhouse Street and High Street; and South East Bound Vehicles: via High Street, John Street and the A596.

(ii) Brow Street, Maryport from its junction with High Street, extending in a north westerly direction for approx. 70m. There is no suitable alternative route available for vehicles during the closure of Brow Street.

1. A594 Ellenborough Road, Maryport - From 3 June 2024 for approx. 6 weeks (Ref: TTROC/10344)

2. John Street, Maryport - From 10 June 2024 for approx. 5 weeks (Ref: TTROC/10347)

John Street, Maryport from its junction with High Street to its junction with the A596. Alternative Route for North West bound vehicles: via the A596, Senhouse Street and High Street
